Do You Like American Idol's Auditions More With Guest Judges?

We've got another week of American Idol auditions before we get into the actual competition phase of the season. Not to say that I haven't been enjoying the auditions themselves — with Paula Abdul out and new judge Ellen DeGeneres not starting until Feb. 9, we've been treated to a stable of rotating guest hosts including Neil Patrick Harris whom I'd been looking forward to most.

Aside from him, the novelty on the whole guest judge thing has kind of worn off (though I did kind of like the not-entirely-friendly banter between Kara and Katy Perry). Sometimes a guest has a witty comment to add, but I don't put as much stock in their votes to advance contestants since they're not going to be judging later on. What do you think — have you enjoyed the guest judges more than usual this season?

Shania was the best by far. She had a good balance or advice,humor and class and had dignity. Not to mention she is a music icon worth hundreds of millions of dollars but yet showed respect for everyone. Katy Perry was an immature wannabe going there with an agenda. She tried to hard to get noticed and she is not even in the league of mega stars like Shania with massive success and riches.It is funny that the ones who have accomplished the least like a Perry seem to be arrogant and the ones who have accomplished the most like a Shania show respect with class.

NPH was awesome. He was funny, articulate, professional and really seemed to take an interest in the contestants. Unlike a lot of the other guest judges, he actually took his role seriously and wasn't just there to be a seat filler. He was everything a guest judge (and permanent judge) should be. I thought Shania was pretty good too and I did love when Katy put Kara in her place. The rest of them were pretty useless, though, I didn't see Kristin's episode, so I can't really say if she did well or not.

Yeah, NPH fully took over, LOVED Katy putting Kara in her place, but Avril, Mary J, Jonas boy, had nothing to contribute. I will be curious to see how it goes with Ellen!

Most celebrity guest judges are useless. NPH did a great job and was really entertaining. He should replace Simon.

I said yes because certain judges are great, Katy and NPH were great ("Sparkles!") But then you have Mary J, Avril, Joe Jonas who contributed absolutely nothing.

NPH was the best so far. If he could manage to do HIMYM and Idol at the same time, Fox should really hire him to replace Simon.

Yeah, I'm confused about the question. It seems like you're asking if we like the guest judges, but the options seem to be answers to whether we like the auditions or the competition better. So, yes, I like the guest judges. But, I believe the competition is the best part of Idol.

I like seeing the guest judges but the "real shows" are still the best part of Idol.
