Music Video: Rilo Kiley, "The Moneymaker"

Rilo Kiley wasn't kidding when the band said its new album would explore the dark side of Los Angeles. The new promotional video for "The Moneymaker," which you can watch online here, stars a small army of porn stars talking about their motivations, hopes, and qualms. The funky, electrified new song starts about 9 minutes into the video, after a barrage of interviews with porn stars who then go on to star alongside the band. Jenny Lewis is sultrier than ever, further stoking countless boy and girl crushes everywhere, and the band sounds uncharacteristically hard-edged and dark. "The Moneymaker" will appear on Under the Blacklight, coming out Aug. 31, and while I'm not absolutely loving the song, it makes me really intrigued to hear the new album, which sounds like it's going in a very different direction.
