Movie Preview: Mickey Rourke, Diane Lane in Killshot

Killshot, a thriller starring Diane Lane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Rosario Dawson and "comeback kid" Mickey Rourke, has already quietly opened in certain cities but hasn't gotten quite the promotional push you might expect from a film that boasts a recent Oscar nominee. Lane plays Carmen Colson who is placed in the Federal Witness Protection program with her husband Wayne "after witnessing an extortion scheme go wrong. Thinking they are at last safe, they are targeted by an experienced intimidating hit man [Rourke] and a psychopathic young upstart killer [Gordon-Levitt]."

Some reviews are saying it's nothing remarkable, which may well be true, though the trailer is more intriguing than I expected it to be. Chances are this one'll be available on DVD sooner rather than later, but for now you can check out the trailer if you read more.

Some of my fave actors are Rourke, Lane, and JGL and it does look interesting. I love seeing Diane in grittier films.

Sounds pretty good...I'd definitely watch it. I like Diane Lane a lot.

Hi. Sometimes Errors and Omissions insurance can hold up a release for two or three years. Just some minor little slip up that has to be reconciled.~And sometimes, a distributor will decide to hold off on release, in hopes that one of the stars will hit it big with another film. And use that to bolster profits. The practice is not real uncommon. I remember the distributors holding back Renee Zellweger's The Whole Wide World, until Jerry Mcguire achieved great acclaim. And I thought The Whole Wide World was a really good movie.Cheers~ Grantz

JGL sure came a long way... i remember when he was like "all i want is a family and a home" in Angels in the Outfield...now he's all "i'mma shoot you in yo face" in this movie.

I love Elmore Leonard, and it's no secret that JGL is one of my favorites, but the trailer makes it look a bit cheesy. And I agree, Grantz. JGL is fantastically talented, and I think if he keeps choosing good roles, he'll have a long career. Not sure what I think about him being Cobra Commander, though. (Oh, who am I kidding? I'd watch him in just about anything because he's just that good. And so obviously intelligent...)

Killshot is one of the films Im most looking forward too this year. Young Gordon-Levitt is becoming a more formidable actor with each new role. I love seeing child actors make the huge leap from television to motion pictures,so few are able. I think Gordon-Levitt may turn out to be the best to do so, since DiCaprio.
