Movie Preview: Michael Cera in Youth in Revolt

I haven't read the book on which Youth in Revolt is based, so there are more than a few parts of this trailer that are lost on me. Still, it keeps my attention and the questions I have are ones that I think will actually propel me to see the movie, rather than make me want to avoid it. It's a bizarre-looking story about Nick Twisp (Michael Cera), a cynical teenager who decides that Sheeni Saunders (Portia Doubleday) is the girl of his dreams, and he'll do anything to win her heart.

Though Cera is once again playing an awkward young man, this role (or, roles, maybe?) is far more complex, interesting and demanding than anything we've seen him do before. I think it's safe to say George Michael Bluth is nowhere to be seen here.

Hahaa, Cera is hilarious. Gotta love that badass 'stache. Who cares if Cera only plays one type of guy? He's great at it. Glad they are making a movie version of Youth In Revolt, it will save me the hassle of reading the book, which has been on my list of things to do for quite some time. Also love the fact that they finished the trailer with the song “Timebomb” by Old 97’s - hope to hear it in the movie.

This book was great, and super funny! They made one huge difference though already. The whole alter ego thing. In the book he dresses as a girl to become friends with sheeny after he is forbidden to see her, and it is a major part or the story and ads so much humor.I can't imagine how much of a trainwreck this will be with him and his bad boy- lady killer alter ego :(

OMG!!! What did they do? They killed this sooooo bad!!!! Thats not even remotely like the book! Ugh, I knew it would be bad, but not like this. I cant stand Micheal Cera as it is, he's the same character in every damned movie! This is quite depressing, because the book is utterly amazing and they butchered it!

I liked the book too and am looking forward to the movie though I can't say I remember any "alter egos" going on in the book.

I never read this book, even though now I will have to check it out for kicks, but I don't care for Michael Cera any more. I would love to see him try something new and work against his type-casting but it seems like that won't happen for a long time. Some people build careers on the same character in tons of movies (hello, Will Ferrell).

This is one of my very favorite books, EVER. I hope hope hope they did a good job with the movie!
