Movie Preview: James Cameron's Avatar

I may not have been following this project as closely as the major fans have (those who happily geeked out when the movie's trailer first still appeared online last December, etc.), but having watched the new teaser trailer, I'm fully on board for this sci-fi film, which follows a parapalegic ex-Marine (Sam Worthington) who "finds himself thrust into hostilities on an alien planet filled with exotic life forms. As an Avatar, a human mind in an alien body, he finds himself torn between two worlds, in a desperate fight for his own survival and that of the indigenous people."

The trailer is almost entirely wordless — just some music and eerie, mesmerizing and sometimes beautiful images. The way movies are promoted these days, we can surely expect to see at least a few more trailers for Avatar before the movie opens Dec. 18. To see this first one, read more.
