Emily Blunt playing a young Queen Victoria in a sumptuous period drama? Yes, please! The trailer for The Young Victoria is slow to build but visually beautiful and features the ever-capable Emily Blunt in the title role. The movie is a "dramatization of the turbulent first years of Queen Victoria's rule, and her enduring romance with Prince Albert." Rupert Friend plays Albert and the sweetness of his relationship with Victoria here looks so refreshing.
The Young Victoria opens in the UK on March 6. To watch the trailer, read more.

there have been many times that i've wondered what her role was in acting, since she's always been a supporting girl, but this could really be something good for her. well see how it gets received
1Finally, a period piece without Keira Knightley! I love Emily and I'm excited to see this.
2I think Emily Blunt is tremendous. And is the perfect choice for this role.
She also has a werewolf movie coming out soon that Im really looking forward to.
Cheers~ Grantz
3Emily Blunt has a wide acting range. Im hoping now that she has a residence in Canada, we will be able to see a lot more of her in America.
That seemed to be the case once Kate Winslett moved to New York.
I guess we'll see...
4I can't wait to see her performance! It's refreshing to see a new face, although Keira is lovely.
5This looks interesting...but the creepy mustache whatshisface has is going to be very distracting to me. I hate mustaches!
6this looks awesome!
7Fab! Queen Victoria when she was young and in love - before the zillion kids, before she became fat and cranky!
8I'm not sure if I've seen Emily Blunt before, but this movie looks quite entertaining. Lets hope its not a terrible flop, like other movies that seem to portray a royal time period. It looks very interesting.
9I really like Emily Blunt.
10This looks really good! When does it come out in the US?
11Yeah Victoria was madly, passionately in love with Albert, so much so that she built him Royal Albert Hall, and the Monument across Kensington High St. in the park. She was devastated when he died prematurely! So this should be a good movie
12This looks really good! I didn't think they could make a decent film out of Queen Victoria's life, but this definitely has a clear plot
13i agree, finally a period piece without Keira! I couldn't bear to watch Atonement! I can't wait for this to come out!
14I'm a sucker for period pieces! I love Emily Blunt and you pretty much know she will carry the movie just fine, she is so talented.
15love her!
16qiqi, I know, Kiera is awful.
17Looks interesting! Will it be released in the US, though?
18Cannot wait to see it!
19So far, no U.S. release date info is available, but I'm keeping my eyes peeled for more info...
20Emily Blunt is on her way to acting greatness, make no mistake! I am super excited about this film.
21Eh, I'm interested. I could barely make it through the preview, but I'm interested. The English are always stuffy and boring, but this could be a companion piece to Coppola's Marie Antoinette.
22I'm excited for this! I really like Emily Blunt and I can't wait to see more of her.
23Oh this is the first I've heard of this and I'm super excited now! I love period pieces.
24I love English history ...
