Monsters Vs Aliens

DreamWorks Animation's Monsters vs. Aliens scored the best opening of the year over the weekend earning an estimated $58.2 million. The movie's success signals to studios that audiences don't seem to mind paying an extra few dollars for movies in 3-D.

Meanwhile, the super scary-looking horror flick The Haunting in Connecticut was No. 2, grossing an estimated $23 million, followed by Knowing. Most of you said you'd be off to see I Love You, Man this weekend and the comedy hung out in the top five at No. 4, followed by Duplicity.

Birthday girl Reese Witherspoon struck a serious pose on the blue carpet Sunday afternoon at the LA premiere of Monsters vs. Aliens. She then got a little sillier doing her best Mr. Spock Vulcan greeting while wearing a sexy, short Rodarte dress, hot off the runway. Costars Kiefer Sutherland, Hugh Laurie, Seth Rogen and Will Arnett with wife Amy Poehler all joined Reese at the event. Paul Rudd, who is also in the film, flashed a big smile, and considering his film, I Love You, Man, came in second at the box office this weekend he has plenty of reasons to be thrilled. Reese Witherspoon packed up her Monsters and Aliens and headed to Paris with Jake for the weekend. On Saturday, the couple got some time to explore and shop before it was back to the red carpet for another premiere on Sunday. It wasn't Reese and Jake's first trip to Paris, but the city of love was probably a little different without Ava and Deacon along for the ride.

Reese Witherspoon and Kiefer Sutherland continued their promotional tour moving things over to London for another premiere of Monsters vs. Aliens last night. The movie has already found two fans in Ava and Deacon but is hopefully building up a following around the world with the help of their hard work. There's still a US premiere to look forward to, but in the meantime Reese and Kiefer seem to be enjoying their travels abroad with their gelatinous costar.

After last night's premiere, Reese Witherspoon and Kiefer Sutherland posed together at a photo call for Monsters vs. Aliens earlier today in Berlin. The movie won't hit theaters for a couple of weeks, but it already has a following from Ava and Deacon Phillippe. Reese said, "They love it. Because they hear my voice and they recognize my voice and they loved this movie [...] They are so happy they can take all their friends to see [it]." Reese is a major movie star, but this time even her smallest critics can appreciate her latest project.

Reese Witherspoon and Kiefer Sutherland were in Berlin last night for a screening of Monsters vs. Aliens. She's spent the last few weeks relaxing at home and tending to her philanthropic projects, but all that will have to be put on hold as promotion for their animated 3-D film goes into full swing before its opening on March 27. Good-natured Reese doesn't seem to mind all the traveling and interviewing, even when she has to politely deflect questions on a nonrelated topic like her man Jake.
