Jake Gyllenhaal took the stage in NYC last night for the opening performance of his off-Broadway play, If There Is I Haven't Found It Yet. This isn't Jake's first attempt at theater — he made his stage debut in the 2002 London production of This Is Our Youth.

Jake's been busy in recent days, balancing two opening projects. He sat down with press at TIFF earlier this month to chat up his police drama, End of Watch, which is in theaters today. Jake has a clean-shaven face — and head — in the film. Lately, though, Jake's sporting a self-described "grizzly" look for his stage role. Jessica Chastain and Michael Peña were among the stars on hand last night to support Jake and the rest of the cast. Early reviews have been less than stellar for the show as a whole, but Jake's had some applause for his performance.

Jake Gyllenhaal joined his End of Watch costars America Ferrera, Anna Kendrick, Michael Peña, and Cody Horn last night for the film's LA premiere. The actors welcomed an eclectic mix of special guests, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, 50 Cent, Cody's Magic Mike costar Joe Manganiello, and Jake's longtime friend Busy Philipps. It was the movie's stateside debut after the cast premiered the film at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.

He told us he spent five months preparing for the shoot, which lasted less than 22 days in total. He and Michael play LAPD officers in the movie. The world of law enforcement and street crime was a familiar one for writer-director David Ayer — he also penned Training Day. Anna Kendrick and Jake Gyllenhaal arrived at the Toronto International Film Festival for the premiere of End of Watch yesterday. Anna chose a black Elie Saab gown for the event while Jake dressed in Prada and their costar America Ferrera went with Badgley Mischka. She plays an LAPD officer along with the guys, though America wasn't spotted hitting the streets with Jake and Michael, who trained together prior to production. He was back in uniform with costar Michael Pena for another intense day fighting faux crime on the streets of LA. The guys suit up for the film, but Jake's six-pack and ripped muscles were on full display during his recent shirtless swim in Hawaii. The guys have been holding down the fort while Jake's onscreen love interest, Anna Kendrick, wraps up another role in Atlanta. Michael and Jake have been working out together getting in shape for their grueling work as officers and Jake even shaved his head for the role. The buff buddies are costars in End of Watch, and they'll soon welcome a new member to the cast since Anna Kendrick just landed the role of Jake's onscreen wife. Jake and Michael have already been spotted in uniform on set, and it appears that they're continuing to work on their physiques for the roles. Jake had another running companion earlier this week though, when he went for a jog with his brother-in-law Peter Sarsgaard. Both guys sported '80s style gear for the workout session, which they followed up with lunch near Venice Beach. Peter is in town to promote Green Lantern, and he stepped out on the red carpet alongside Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds at the film's premiere last night.

He transformed into a similar look in 2005 for his role as a Marine in Jarhead. Production seems to be in the early phases for Jake, who just wrapped up an extensive promotional tour for Source Code, and Michael, who starred opposite Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Phillippe in The Lincoln Lawyer. Jake should feel comfortable back in the saddle for an action film with Source Code and Prince of Persia already under his belt.
