Are Werewolves the New Vampires?

Is all the excitement over Jacob Black's transformation upcoming in New Moon becoming a craze? Robert Pattinson isn't the only reason to see the follow-up to Twilight, and many can't wait to see how CGI and months of Taylor Lautner's gym time will look on screen.

And that's just the beginning of werewolf entertainment. Next February, we'll meet Benicio Del Toro's The Wolf Man, as well as a rebooted Teen Wolf TV series. Teen romance novel Shiver, which also happens to be about a werewolf, is set to be adapted into a film as well.

It's clear that werewolves are starting to blow up like their vampire brethren, and maybe as people start to tire of the bloodsuckers, they'll look to the latest supernatural fad. But do you think werewolves have the same allure as vampires to carry a whole new genre? Is the idea of them as interesting — or as sexy?

Yeah, mrc... that's kind of a spoiler, but they aren't actually werewolves, they're just shapeshifters. Wolves were what was chosen but it could have been anything back when it began. I have always liked werewolves more then vampires.. i don't actually like vampire books or movies, ever, becuase i find that whole sexual tinged sinful mystery thing rather boring and dull. The only reason I like the twilight vamps is because they actually have personalities and it's not all about their thirst for sex and blood, a lot more interesting in my opinion. An old time computer game about werewolves that was really great is called The Beast Within, it's a Gabriel Knight story. It was an AWESOME game back then, so much back story and detail.

It's all about the vamps! Werewolf makes me thing slobbery animal, vampire makes me think Eric Northman in a tight black tee. Nuff said.

i do love my werewolves (and as an aside, didn't they say in the books that they're not technically werewolves? it's been driving me crazy!), but i think those vampires will always have my heart

I prefer vampires, more classic. That said, I can't wait for the fursplosions (and the endless row of shirless guys) in the movie.

Werewolves have always been superior, in my opinion. I've always been Team Jacob. People would start arguments with me, everyone seemed to hate him. Only now that Taylor is so much hotter than Robert are people being converted. I have mixed feelings about this, I want him to myself, haha. Vampires are very overrated, and blood isn't very sexy in my opinion.

Shiver was so good. I fell in love with it so much. For me it kicked Twilights ass (personal opinion not dissing twilight). I love werewolves and am getting sort of sick of vampires so I am all for a werewolf revival.

I think it'll be close but they won't take the mystery and danger away from the vampire.
