Maggie Gyllenhaal Finds Her Dark Knight

Due to "scheduling conflicts," Katie Holmes is unable to reprise her role as Batman's love interest in The Dark Knight, the sequel to Batman Begins. Instead, Maggie Gyllenhaal will most likely step in to play D.A. Rachel Dawes.

Darling of the independent movie scene, she seems like a slightly bizarre pick for this blockbuster role. Still weirder, however, will be watching handsome Heath Ledger play The Joker.

What do you think about this news? Does Maggie with her big, goofy grin seem like a good pick to play Batman's lady?

Maggie's a good choice. She was credible in Sherrybaby, proving that she can act.

Oh, I think she proved her sex appeal in Secretary with James Spader. =) Although I usually like to see the same actors reprise their roles, I think Maggie will do fine and perhaps give the character a little more depth.

She's a much better choice than Katie Holmes was.

I think she is a great choice. She proved she has sex appeal in Mona Lisa Smile where she played the sexpot character. Plus, she has the acting chops to play opposite Christian. However, I wasn't one of the people who thought Katie Holmes was that bad in Batman Begins. I think she did the most she could with the signature "woe is me love interest role".

I think she'll be MUCH better than Katie Holmes. I mean, at least Maggie can ACT, which is more than I can say for Katie. And I think Maggie is very sexy. Katie Holmes is like a sterile mannequin, and I thought that even before she was with Tom.

I thought this was somewhat poor casting. I know she probably wants to branch out into main-stream films, but I always thought batman's love interest should be someone known for their sex-appeal. Or at least is a little sexy. Maggie Gyllenhaal just doesn't do it for me.
