With SXSW providing the unofficial start to music-festival season, there's no better time to zero in on the pieces worth packing for whichever (music-minded) occasion comes next. Thankfully, that's where H&M's latest Spring/Summer collections come in. Coachella, set in the Indio, CA, desert, is an expectedly heated affair, while the Glastonbury Festival in Somerset, England, presents a trickier outfit equation, due to unpredictable weather. Throw in Bonnaroo, Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, and Outside Lands, and you've got more than one kind of festivalgoer dress code to contend with too. The basics are the same — a t-shirt, denim staples, and a little fringe go a long way — but it's how you accent your look to fit the locale and the climate that will set you apart. Lollapalooza is this weekend and that got us thinking about ways to save on live concerts. There's nothing better than seeing live music with a group of friends, but like any night out, the whole experience can get pretty pricey. Looking to save some money so you can see as much music as possible? Check out these four tried-and-true tips for smart concert-going.

  1. Buy tickets early. If there's a show you're dying to see, don't put off buying tickets. Look for presale opportunities by following your favorite bands via Facebook and Twitter and checking out sites like Jambase and SonicLiving.
  2. Don't wait on a friend. Some people wait to buy tickets if they're not sure they'll have a concert buddy. My advice? If you can handle the cost, buy two tickets early. The worst thing that will happen is that you'll sell your extra. Who knows? If tickets are high in demand, maybe you'll even make a few extra bucks!
  3. Stay away from brokers and scalpers. Unless it's your last resort, do your best to stay away from ticket broker websites. Even the big-name sites have loads of hidden fees and are notorious for astronomically jacking up ticket prices. Find out if you can buy from the venue's website directly, or avoid even more fees by taking the old-fashioned route and buying straight at the box office.
  4. Skip the booze and the merch. I know that $8 beer looks so refreshing, and you love the colors on that t-shirt, but don't get caught up in the hype of the night. If you're serious about saving money, cutting out these extra expenses is an easy way to make sure you don't go over budget.

Note from Buzz: Please enjoy another music post from my lovely music-loving friend Bella.

Wheeeeee! Bella here, lamenting the fact that she's thousands of miles away from Chicago. Between the recent Pitchfork festival and this weekend's Lollapalooza events, the city of big shoulders is the city of big fun. Beginning today, dozens of Lolla bands and artists will descend on Grant Park as music-world heavyweights (Depeche Mode, The Killers) and buzzed-about names (Fleet Foxes, Dan Deacon) rock the waterfront. I checked out Radiohead a few years ago in the same outdoor space, and lemme tell ya, there's nothing like soaking up a bassline while the city skyline lights up behind you.

There are still tickets available, so if you're up for some noise in Illinois, have at it. For the rest of us, I've created a little playlist in honor of the fest. Check it out (and find out how you can score some mp3s for free) right ovah here
