Shout out to 1988!
1WHAT!?!?!?! Samantha was my doll, one of the very first, if not the first doll they made! She's fabulous, and I still have her and all of her cute accessories at my parent's house. How can they be discontinuing Samantha??? So disheartening.

4First the Mattel buy-out, and now this! RIP, Pleasant Company, and your original intent to educate the little girls of the nation on vaious perspectives of American history...
(I do find bumping Samantha off to be a little odd; she was always the biggest money-maker of the dolls!).
5All these years, I have tolerated what American Girl has become because I loved the originals so much. I cannot believe they are ditching Samantha! Who's next, Kirsten?! What is the world coming to?!

12o i remember when it was just Kirsten, Samantha and Molly too! I had Kirsten- still do somewhere. My neighbor had Samantha and Molly and all sorts of cool accessories. what a shame! and i agree- its a shame what its really become from what it was!
13My mother wouldn't let us have cabbage patch or American Girl dolls. It was probably a strategic move on her part. If one of us wanted one and got it, then she'd have to buy those expensive dolls for the rest of us. I had 4 sisters, so that would've been a huge expense on her behalf. That and in the 80s, there was Elmo-doll levels of insanity over Cabbage Patch. I don't feel deprived. I was more of a tomboy anyway.
I would love to see Slaughterhouse-Five directed by del Toro. That man can do no wrong in my eyes.
