Is This Jennifer Aniston's Most Unusual Role Yet?

May 21 2014 - 10:23am

It's safe to say that we're used to Jennifer Aniston [1] in comedy roles (her last movie was We're the Millers), so it's always refreshing to see her go a little darker, like in the trailer for Life of Crime, based on the Elmore Leonard novel The Switch. That's not to say that this crime caper is a drama; it's more of a black comedy about a wealthy man (Tim Robbins) who's cheating on his wife, Mickey (Aniston), with a younger woman (Isla Fisher [2]). When two criminals (John Hawkes and Yasiin Bey, aka Mos Def) try to kidnap Mickey for blackmail money, her husband sees it as a coincidental convenience, and that's when things really get fun. Life of Crime premiered at last year's Toronto International Film Festival, and you can finally check it out in theaters and on VOD on Aug. 29.
