Lena Dunham: I Thought the TSA Was Gonna Amanda Knox Me

Lena Dunham recently had a real-life Girls situation on her hands. In a crazy moment that felt like it was lifted right from the show, she was detained by airport security because of her — wait for it — cat key chain. As she explained on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday, she was gifted the self-defense item by someone on her staff and didn't realize its potential for harm. "It's shaped like a cat — it goes over your knuckles, but I guess the two ears could gut somebody . . . I understand intellectually that it could be used as a weapon, but all I really thought was, what a cute little cat!" As soon as it went through the scanners, Lena recalls, "I see two guys look at each other, like, 'Oh, we got a real situation on our hands,'" and after being detained for 45 minutes until law enforcement arrived, she was convinced they were "gonna Amanda Knox" her.
