3 Reasons to See Indie Comedy Ceremony

The indie film Ceremony, starring Michael Angarano as a lovelorn writer who tricks his best friend (Reece Thompson) into helping him crash the wedding of the woman he's in love with (Uma Thurman), expands its limited release today. While the film, the first feature from writer/director Max Winkler, has flown under the radar, I have a few reasons why it might deserve to be on your must-see list.

  • Because you love Wes Anderson. While it's not an Anderson film, Winkler's distinct voice has a clear influence from Anderson, particularly in the script and style. Along with Anderson, the movie is also reminiscent of Woody Allen's work. If you're a fan of Allen's lovably neurotic male characters who are also head over heels in love, then you'll be into Ceremony.
  • The ridiculously charming cast. Angarano and Thurman have believable chemistry as former lovers, but it's the friendship between Sam and his best friend Marshall (Thompson, best known for Rocket Science) that really stands out. The actors seem like old friends, nailing Winkler's funny dialogue in their scenes together. The supporting cast also includes two scene-stealers: Lee Pace is on point as Zoe's fiancé, a quirky British filmmaker who loves himself but loves Zoe more, and Jake Johnson as Zoe's drunkard brother.
  • If you're getting married. The movie has wedding inspiration for days, from its inclusion of the old-fashioned game paper chase as a group activity for guests, to the decor and fashion. The ceremony setting is a gorgeous outdoor venue with paper lanterns and round globe lights, while Thurman's hair and makeup are stunning. Likewise, the bridesmaids are outfitted in various shades of pink and red — even if you're not getting married, it's cinematic eye candy.

Breaking Dawn Casting: Lee Pace Is Up For Edward's BFF

Eclipse was released just shy of a month ago, so it's time to start directing all our Twilight attention to the next installment, Breaking Dawn.

Eclipse was released just shy of a month ago, so it's time to start directing all our Twilight attention to the next installment, Breaking Dawn. Hence, we have some casting news! Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace is rumored to be in the running for the role of Garrett, a nomadic vampire and a member of the Denali clan, as well as a friend of Edward's.

Ever since Bill Condon signed on as Breaking Dawn's director and screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg talked to Pop about the direction of the script, I've been waiting to hear more details about the movie. Pace is not necessarily an actor I would have expected to see in the Twilight saga, but as a fan of his, it's exciting. Can you see him as a vampire? And what other Breaking Dawn casting are you curious about?

Movie Preview: Marmaduke

Should I just classify this under "so bad it's awesome"?

Should I just classify this under "so bad it's awesome"? The trailer for the live-action version of Marmaduke truly has to be seen to be believed. First, you have Owen Wilson voicing the mischievous cartoon dog, which is trippy in itself (a giant Great Dane sounding like a stoner = surreal). George Lopez provides the voice of his best friend the cat, Fergie plays a love interest, while Lee Pace and Judy Greer run around as his frazzled owners.

But the real magic happens in the last 10 seconds of this preview — dance sequence! You know, because the sight of Marmaduke hanging 10 on a surfboard isn't already enough to make your eyes bug. I'm sure children are going to go ape over this flick, but I wouldn't be surprised if a few adults get laughs out of it, just because it's so ridiculous. The film comes to theaters June 4, but take a peek and rant and rave in the comments when you read more

Kellan Lutz and Victoria Beckham Have Fashion Week Covered

The Fashion Week crowd didn't stop to rest over the weekend, with big names heading out to take in a few shows.

The Fashion Week crowd didn't stop to rest over the weekend, with big names heading out to take in a few shows. Victoria Beckham hung out backstage on Friday night during Naomi Campbell's Fashion For Relief presentation, which was memorable for including a touching tribute to Alexander McQueen and because Agyness Deyn fell on the runway — twice. Malin Akerman joined the supermodels for the event and took a turn on the catwalk herself wearing a sparkly purple number. Rebecca Taylor had newly-engaged Kristen Bell and Michelle Trachtenberg in the audience, while Jessica Szohr headed out for Herve Leger. Yesterday's Calvin Klein menswear show brought out a front row full of hotties, with Chace Crawford and Ryan Phillippe joining the brand's underwear models Kellan Lutz and Mehcad Brooks.

Bella and Fab are in the Big Apple reporting from the scene, so make sure to check in with them for all the latest from the runway!

Movie Preview: Colin Firth in A Single Man

When was the last time you were transfixed by a preview completely without dialogue?

When was the last time you were transfixed by a preview completely without dialogue? The trailer for the 1960s-set A Single Man instead relies on its visual strength, which it has in spades — not a complete surprise considering this is designer Tom Ford's directorial debut (and word is they have Mad Men's production design group).

Based on the Christopher Isherwood novel of the same name, A Single Man focuses on the unraveling of a man (Firth) after his partner dies. The trailer is filled with beauty and beauties in pain — watch for Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode, Ginnifer Goodwin and Lee Pace in the moody clip. I'm very curious about this movie, if only to see how fashion force Ford handles himself in this entirely different medium. His aesthetic is very sensual, which I hope translates to the screen. And I'd see nearly anything Coiln Firth is in.
