Lee Wins American Idol — Do You Agree With the Voters?

The voters have spoken, and Lee DeWyze has been crowned winner of American Idol season nine. We were pretty split on the decision here at Sugar HQ, but I want to know what you think. Do you agree with the winner?

Who votes on AI - 8-16yr old girls for the most part. I knew the winner on the day they announced the top 12, I asked my 12 year old sister who she liked, her eyes got dreamy and she said "omg Lee!!!" End of the day that is who AI targets, those are the people who will buy the albums (I'm so sick of hearing Kris Allen wailing in my house) so, ya, Lee is the better winner for the purpose and aim of this show.

I am glad Lee won AI! Not sure how people can say he did not connect with audience...I think he is the one that connected most and sang each song from the heart. Yes, Crystal was better Tuesday night - I give her that! But Lee was better every single (past) week so I do think America got it right. And I am no teenager... BTW: my husband liked Lee more than Crystal too! So it is not only the girls that rooted for Lee! Congrats to them both though - I am sure they will do just fine from now on...

lee is BOOOORING. i'd much rather buy an album by crystal. but the non-winners have mostly gone on to do better things than the winners, so it will all work out.

Honestly, I could not complain if either won since I am a fan of both and they will each go far. Each are unique with interesting, powerful vocals. My ipod has a song from each: "You Can't Always Get What You Want" by Crystal and "Beast of Burden" by Lee. Though I must admit I favor the latter; Lee's version made me swoon a bit due to the mellow instruments and the grit/rasp in his higher notes. So I am just happy for them both and look forward to their albums.

I am disappointed. I believe that Crystal had more going for her than Lee did. The problem I had with Lee is his lack of connecting to the audience. He never showed really any emotion when he sang. Once again it goes to show you that the teenagers have been the ones making the choices and yet once again this will be one male winner that will not be able to reach the status that Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have gotten. At least Chris Daughtery did not win and has made quite the career for himself.

I really don't know what to think about the winner. I think they both had it goin for them .... I'm really not sure what to say about Lee winning and I would be the same way if Crystal won. It was a close call and ...well I think they both deserved to win. As far as vocals and style go ... I think Crystal had it in the bag. But ...America voted ! And Lee won. So I wish them both the best of luck ! Because even though Crystal was runner-up, she will still go very far !!

No, but Crystal will go farther than Lee. It's best NOT to win American Idol.
