I'm hardly done with mourning the death of Pushing Daisies, but this news will probably help to get me on the road to recovery: Kristin Chenoweth will be back on our TVs before long as the star of the next legal show from David E. Kelley.
When we first heard about this quirky drama, all we knew is that it would be on NBC and focus on a father and daughter who were both lawyers. Now there are more details, and they're pretty hilarious: The show is called Legally Mad, and Chenoweth will play Skippy Pylon (yeah), a brilliant but kind of unstable attorney who's prone to bouts of psychosis. The description also notes that Skippy's occasionally mistaken for a teenager.
Kelley told the Hollywood Reporter:
I could only picture Kristin playing this role. I've wanted to work with her for a long time and can't wait to reveal her as someone who's completely mad.
Chenoweth was simply born to play a Skippy, and Pushing Daisies showed she can handle quirk. I have just two questions: 1) Will Kelley find a way for her to sing? And 2) Who's going to play dear ol' dad? Fire away with casting suggestions in the comments.

Lepel
Victor Garber needs a new job since they canceled Eli Stone.
1well at least you know that there are a lot of things in the works - so we can only hope that maybe there's a chance that some show next season will see more success for them both
2Love it! Kristin Chenoweth's receiving due attention now
3This is DEFINITELY something I will watch.
Can't wait to find out who else is going
to be on the show.
4I think they should bring William Shatner back with his Mad Cow to be her new found father.
5I'm such a huge fan of her! Can't wait to see her back in something that I like to watch (Pushing Daisies never did it for me) since West Wing!
6I'm not sure I can handle another "oh, she's cute but kinda unbalanced" laywer story. Sorry, but I am a lawyer and I'm getting a little sick of that plotline. Ally McBeal already did us female attorneys kind of a disservice.
7While I love Kristin, I hate DEK and his quirkiness would not show her talents to full effect. (And ditto to tlsgirl's comment on female attorneys). I'll have to pass.
8I absolutely adore Kristin, but the I'm a bit concerned about the subject matter. Prone to bouts of psychosis? Really? It sounds like they are going to use mental health issues for laughs, which could be a wee bit tasteless, depending on how its handled.
What do you all think?
9Shatner, Shatner, Shatner, Shatner!!! My two most favorite actors together on one series....that would be sublime.
10Victor Garber, both of them can sing.
11I love Cheno but I can't see her on a legal drama.
123rd on Victor Garber! Bring back Spy Daddy!
13I like Kristen but I don't like legal dramas or dramedies, etc. so I'll have to pass.
14This cannot make up for the loss of Pushing Daisies, but I'm happy that Kristin will still be employed. Hopefully Lee Pace and Chi will make it back to our TVs soon too.
15Kelsey Grammer would be awesome to play her father. She appeared in an episode of Frasier I think and the chemistry was good. But he would be awesome to be the pompous old coot!
16Love the idea of Victor Garber! He's awesome!
