The King's Speech Trailer Starring Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, and Geoffrey Rush

The King's Speech Trailer: Colin Firth Stutters to the Throne

Should we just start congratulating Colin Firth on his Oscar nomination now? His exceptional acting chops are on display in the trailer for The King's Speech, the 1930s-set drama about King George VI. Firth tackles the part of the future king with a stutter that must be fixed before he can be taken seriously as a leader.

Like any British thespian who takes on the role of a royal, Firth definitely seems like a shoo-in for award season, but in this case it's more than just a cliche. I had goosebumps watching the preview of Firth stumble over his words, then command with them. He's not the only impressive performer in this cast, either; Helena Bonham Carter plays his wife and Geoffrey Rush has the important part of speech therapist. As proof of the buzz, the film just won the People's Choice Award at TIFF — and I predict you'll be hearing a lot more about it in the next few months.
