This crazy season of Grey's Anatomy just got a little weirder. James Pickens Jr. — Chief Richard Webber to you and me — has said that both Katherine Heigl and TR Knight are saying goodbye to the show.

According to the story, Us Weekly asked Pickens if Heigl was leaving, and he said, "Yes, she is" and added, "Wherever Katherine goes, I wish her nothing but the best." Then, of Knight, he said, "He's going too. He just wanted to pursue other career paths."
ABC hasn't commented, and Entertainment Weekly's Michael Ausiello says he's hearing that Pickens may have jumped the gun, but unofficially, "all indications are that it will happen" and both Heigl and Knight will be leaving at some point.
Knight's barely been on screen this season, while Heigl's been front-and-center in the much-maligned ghost sex plotline. George and Izzie were the two original Grey's characters you wanted to ditch, but how do you want them to say goodbye?

Yippie! Bye bye Izzie!
1Yippie! Bye bye Izzie!
2Argh!
3I like Izzie. I don't want her character to leave. George on the other hand has never done anything for me. I barely notice when he is on screen and it doesn't bother me that he's had about 3 lines this season.
4I'm glad to see them both go - I think the show's really bloated with lame story lines.
5THANK GOODNESS BYE IZZIE!!!
George, i will miss, but knew it was coming when they basically made him into backround.....
6Praise God! Kathrine Heigle is so arrogant and ungrateful. And the character that boy plays is so boring and mealy mouthed. Good riddance.
7I actually like George, but I vote to die off Izzie...
! She annoys the crap out of
me!
8Well homicide suicide would make it interesting....but my guess is george will just go somewhere he is respected and Ozzie will be taken away by denny....
9Izzie is actually my favorite character ,with the exception of the ghost bits this season. I can't get attached to Christina and Meredith is annoying, so...
I'll be really sad to see George go too. At least we still have Alex and McSteamy.
10I want Izzy to die of something like pancreatic cancer - hard to detect and lethal (ooo GeriAnne, I like her being taken away by Denny) and I want George to do something so egregious that they can't keep him on at Seattle Grace like murder a patient because he was a lobbyist against unions...
11Not sure how I would like to see them go but I have to say I will miss George. When he did have a storyline I thought he was hysterical. Even now he makes me laugh. But maybe that's not good since this isn't a comedy??? Izzie, eh. But I love me some Denny.
12I love George, but I really can't blame TR for leaving when they have given him ZERO screen time this season.
I will not miss Izzie, every story line she has been in since Denny died has been horrible or just plain lame. I also think Katerine is better at RomComs, but she better watch out or her attitude is going to make it hard to find work. The girl has made fun of half of the shows/movies (Roswell, Grey's and Knocked-Up for example) she has been in. Guess what? People don't like it when you make fun of projects they work hard on.
13I think Izzy should go in the most undignified way ever. like falling down the stairs, or eating a bad chicken salad sandwich, or one of the trees in the front of the hospital falling on her, or maybe a zombie attack and they only kill her.
14well hopefully there will be something dramatic with izzie's character since we know that she's supposed to be sick. As for George - i don't know if i care much about how he leaves.
15Hm, I'm not going to believe anything until Katherine Heigl and T.R. Knight (or their reps) say anything. Just because a cast mate says they're leaving doesn't mean they are. I think it's too early to say good-bye until they or the producer make the announcement, not a cast mate.
16I can't say I'm surprised that they are leaving, but I don't think I'm going to tune into Grey's Anatomy next season because I can't stand the rest of the characters on the show except for Miranda Bailey and McSteamy. Izzie used to be my favorite character but they killed off Denny WAY too soon, so they had to do this dumbass ghost-sex storyline. Since we know it's likely that she will leave the show by dying from her mysterious ailment, I hope Denny is the one to bring her to the afterline. As for George, he's been off my radar for awhile but I think they ruined his character by having him hook up with too many of his co-stars (that nurse in season 1 who gave him syphilis, his awkward one night stand with Meredith, his even more disgusting affair with Izzie, and of course his marriage to Callie). I guess his character went as far as it could go, but I can't see TR Knight having a big career outside Grey's. I wish him nothing but the best though, he seems like a good guy.
17afterlife*
18I'm not too broken up about either of them leaving... George I used to love, but he's just gotten annoying, plus he's barely ever there. Izzie I might be a teensy bit sad to see leave, but not too much. She probably has a brain tumor or something that caused the whole Denny ghost deal, and it's too late to fix it or something. We'll see!
19Guess I'm not surprised. I will miss George, but it's clear T. R. Knight wants to go and that his talent is being wasted in this season's episodes, so guess it's time for him to move on. Honestly, I'm not sad to see Izzie go, especially after this season.
20Great! They both are annoying and whining on the show and real life. So good riddance to them both!
21I like the homicide/suicide idea. Izzie has a brain tumor and it makes her go nutso.
22I personally love both of these characters...even Izzie. I've hardly watched Grey's this season, as I think it kind of sucks now, and I definitely will NOT watch it without these two.
23Izzie and George were gone as soon as they drink that stupid tequila and had sex. Izzie became a stalker, George a cheater and like many things in Grey's lately... it came out of nowhere and had no explanation on why it started or ended.
24So yeah, I hope she dies from the brain tumor and that George suffers so much from it, that he'll just transfer to another hospital. After all, Lexie that was soooooo in love with him, is now with Sloan. Callie that was his wife, is now dating Arizona, Denver or whatever her name is. He has no friends, no plot... and now Izzie is dead. Time to go Georgie. You'll be missed.
About time.
25adios george and izzie!
26They both bore me to no end so peace out!!!
27THE SHOW'S FINISHED!
28-
IF the rumors ARE true... Then Heigl & Knight are leaving BEFORE the show is canceled outright & can say, "we saw it coming & didn't want to drown with the rest of them."

I liked Grey's in the beginning but then it went somewhere I couldn't follow... Becoming pretentious, boring & pathetic; trying to be a mix of Scrubs & E.R. that doesn't work. I got so bored with it, I began watching Private Practice instead... Of course, that show has it's own problems, but in a more tolerable vain for me to keep watching. For now, anyway.
i will say that it seems to me that Grey's jumped the shark right about the time that Meredith tried to kill herself. Seriously? Izzy was fine up to that point and then the whole George and Izzy, Izzy and Alex thing is just lame. I think they have gone too far into the characters lives and forgotten the medical part that was so much more riveting in the first and second season. Now I am just waiting for them to do something interesting that doesn't involve someone sleeping with someone else and someone being mad about it.
29I like Izzy, I don't want her leaving but I don't mind about George at all, I even forgot that he was still there.
30I was just beginning to warm to Izzie's character after 5 seasons
But to be honest, they're both kinda replaceable, as long as Shonda and her people find suitable replacements and don't just get any old actors they think might be
good (ahem, Melissa George)- or alternatively, they could focus on the characters that are left and focus more on the medical drama as someone else mentioned.
31as my niece says, "BYEEEEEEEE!"
32Good for their career, bad for the show.
33It's about time. The denny ghost plot was really annoying. Izzie and george will not be missed!
34What's crap is that both TR Knight and Katherine Heigl are really talented actors, but Grey's writing staff made mistake after mistake with their characters. TR Knight was my favourite character when I watched this show. If I didn't think Knight and Heigl were better off with Grey's Anatomy behind them I'd be upset, but now they can move on to a project that can better utilize their talents.
I also agree with Rossy. Private Practice is a much better show, though it's far from perfect and I think has degenerated this season. It was promising and I'm a big fan of Paul Adelstein, Amy Brennenman, Taye Diggs, Tim Daly, pretty much the whole cast, but I liked how the show was in season 1.
35I am so glad Izzie will be gone, but poor George - the writers just killed his character.
36i'm actually pretty darned sad that they'll both be leaving the show...they are all a part of the bigger picture/the story at Seattle Grace and it's hard when anyone leaves, regardless if i like them or not...
37UGH! They Should have Izzie live and just not be on the show anymore, let her have her 4 kids she wanted in her hallucination with Denny and decide not to work anymore, just dont kill her! And for George, save the poor kid, he's been through enough and has no one to love! Let him live and go off to the Army like he wants, just dont kill him either!!!!
