Joss Whedon Headed to the Director's Chair For Glee!

News doesn't get much better than this: Joss Whedon is coming on board to direct a future episode of Glee! I'm a long-time fan of the man behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and his signature brand of biting humor. Whedon's no stranger to musicals either (hello, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog). I think he'll be the perfect fit for the gleeks, and I can't wait to see what he brings to the show. A blood-sucking rival chorus? Robotic-type high schoolers a la Dollhouse?

Whatever the case, I bet a dose of Whedon sci-fi would add a lot of fun to the storyline, and I wouldn't mind seeing the show do something completely one-off for an episode. The show could benefit from some fresh meat, right?

Yay for Joss! I kind-of hope that his directed episode includes Jonathan Groff who was announced as a guest star for at least 5 of the back 9 episodes today, too.

Anonymous, I think you better look Joss up on IMDb. The show is very lucky to have him and as Ryan Murphy said Joss directed one of the best musical episodes of tv ever. This is a great pairing and NPH guest starring could only make it better.

I like JW but TV is all about writing and production, of course you absolutely need the actors and directors but it's not "his" show. He isn't penning the episode or anything...so it's not anything too out there at least for now and I like the show as is. I'm pleased by the idea but not particularly excited. If this is his first job as a director after being a writer and creator/producer than it's just a personal growth thing for him and to pad his resume as I'm sure he'll want to direct more or other things. This means more for him than the show. So it's whatever.
