Jennifer Garner's Big Birthday Weekend With Friends, Kids, Pedicures, and Parties!

Jennifer Garner turned 38 on Saturday, which she celebrated with a weekend full of friends and family.

Jennifer Garner turned 38 on Saturday, which she celebrated with a weekend full of friends and family. On Friday, she and Violet got pedicures together at a nail salon in Pacific Palisades. Jennifer made sure that Violet didn't mess up her pretty toes by carrying her out to the car afterwards. That evening, Ben Affleck was on his own at the Children Mending Hearts Peace Please Gala in Hollywood. It wasn't too late of a night, however, since there was a big daytime bash to throw the next day.

Among the three big celebrity birthdays this weekend, the vast majority of you picked Jennifer's party as the one you'd most like to attend, and it ended up being quite the event! Reese Witherspoon started out her Saturday stopping by a sporting goods store with Jim Toth, Ava, and Deacon before the foursome all headed to the Garner-Affleck celebration. She was just one of the A-list attendees, joining Jason Bateman, Tobey Maguire, Jennifer Meyer, and more at Jen and Ben's home. The sunny, beautiful afternoon was kid-friendly of course with Seraphina and Violet also playing host to all their famous pals.

The Iron Man 2 Trailer Is Finally Here!

I've been waiting to see a trailer for Iron Man 2 pretty much since the credits rolled for the original, and the day has finally arrived!

I've been waiting to see a trailer for Iron Man 2 pretty much since the credits rolled for the original, and the day has finally arrived! As we learned from the sneak peeks and stills, Tony Stark is back, maybe even more egotistical than before (in the most charming way possible, of course). The preview hints that there's still a spark between Tony and Pepper, but perhaps not a relationship. Meanwhile, Tony/Iron Man has escalated to fame of rock star proportions when a stalker-like menace begins lurking in the shadows. He surfaces as Whiplash, played by a terrifying Mickey Rourke (who also comes complete with a mouth full of grills).

We also get a quick glimpse of Scarlett Johansson kicking butt as Black Widow and Don Cheadle as the new Col. Rhodes — or should I say War Machine? (Yes, he gets an iron suit of his own, so cool!) Let's just say I'm marking my calendar for May 7.

Robert Downey Jr. Says Thanks, Feels Lucky About His Star

Robert Downey Jr. had the support of his mother and wife yesterday as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Robert Downey Jr. had the support of his mother and wife yesterday as he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He showed off a few familiar moves as he stretched things out before putting his feet into the wet cement. The ceremony featured a few prominently placed posters for Robert's next film to hit theaters, Sherlock Holmes, which he'll soon be promoting with costar Jude Law. First up, though, was expressing his gratitude for the honor. "I remember when I was a kid and we lived up the street, I used to walk down here," Robert said at the ceremony. "I'd look at all these names."

Couples Retreat: Not Exactly a Relaxing Getaway

Everyone loves a vacation, right?

Everyone loves a vacation, right? Beautiful scenery, tropical drinks, fun in the sun. Add a few of your closest friends and you could have the trip of a lifetime — or a romantic getaway gone horribly awry.

To be fair, the four pairs in Couples Retreat don't realize what they're agreeing to when they head to Eden East, a swanky resort on a remote island. But once the relationship boot camp begins, the friendships quickly break down, and it's often more depressing than hilarious. To see what I mean, just read more

Red Carpet

Stars and Couples Retreat to the Red Carpet For LA Premiere

The stars of Couples Retreat descended on the red carpet in LA last night to promote the ensemble comedy.

The stars of Couples Retreat descended on the red carpet in LA last night to promote the ensemble comedy. Kristen Bell and Malin Akerman showed off their legs in short and sweet dresses, but the ladies were minus one since Kristin Davis is back east working on SATC2. It wasn't all about the women, however, as Jason Bateman, Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn hammed it up for the cameras. Dax Shepard was there to support his girlfriend Kristen and the group all laughed it up during the afterparty. If their friendly demeanor offscreen is any indication, we're in for a hilarious ride when the film hits theaters on Friday.

Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau Take on Cowboys & Aliens

Last Summer, Robert Downey Jr. signed on to a film adaption of the graphic novel Cowboys and Aliens, and here's more good news — Jon Favreau most likely will direct the film!

Last Summer, Robert Downey Jr. signed on to a film adaption of the graphic novel Cowboys and Aliens, and here's more good news — Jon Favreau most likely will direct the film! If you've seen Iron Man (or have even heard of it), you know what kind of magic these guys have together.

I've been antsy for Iron Man 2 after seeing new footage at Comic-Con, but I might be even more interested in RDJ and Favreau's newest venture. The duo is staying within the comic book realm, but I'm looking forward to new characters, fresh story lines, and 100 percent more aliens.

Movie Preview: Couples Retreat

This movie stars a whole slew of actors who are no strangers to comedy (Vince Vaughn, Jon Favreau, Jason Bateman, Kristin Davis, Kristen Bell and a bunch more), though the trailer for their upcoming movie Couples Retreat doesn't really elicit the big laughs.

It does look pretty cute, though, so maybe it's more of a silly-funny thing than a ha-ha-funny thing.

The story follows four couples — some happy in their relationships and some on the brink of separating — who attend a couples retreat together in a beautiful tropical location. As they go about working on their relationships, funny stuff happens, I guess. I will say that it's very cool to see Jon Favreau back in a more central role (he also wrote the movie). I love it when he directs movies, but I love it just as much when he's being funny on the big screen. The comedy opens Oct. 9. To check out the new trailer, read more

I Love You, Man: Bromance at Its Cutest

I Love You, Man is a sweet, low-key comedy about two guys who find true friendship.

I Love You, Man is a sweet, low-key comedy about two guys who find true friendship. As I left the screening a friend said it struck her as a kind of poor man's Judd Apatow movie (meant as a positive thing, BTW) — in the literal sense, it seems lower-budget but it's also just quieter, tamer, and less yucky. There's tons of super awkwardness, similar to the kind we see each week in The Office, and little gross-out humor. It's also simply more genuine than something Apatow might do, and it's a nice change.

The movie focuses on the platonic relationship between two guys, and the fact that they're guys is central to the humor of their awkward blossoming friendship. It all starts when Peter (Paul Rudd) proposes to his girlfriend Zooey (Rashida Jones) and realizes that he has nobody to be his best man in the wedding. So, on the advice of his gay brother Robbie (Andy Samberg), he goes on a series of "man dates" to try and find a friend to be his best man. Finally, Peter meets Sydney (Jason Segel), the carefree and fun-loving antidote to Peter's buttoned-up steadiness. Peter discovers what it's like to talk frankly with another guy and how to loosen up a little bit and not always play by the rules. Sydney's relaxed attitude starts to rub off on Peter, which is refreshing until it gets to the point that Peter (and Zooey, for that matter) feels like he's not totally himself anymore. He then has to figure out if he can balance both romance and bromance in his life. For more of my thoughts on it all, read more

Yes We Can!

No he di'int! I was dumbfounded when I discovered that president-elect Barack Obama's speechwriter, Jon Favreau, is only 27 years old!

No he di'int! I was dumbfounded when I discovered that president-elect Barack Obama's speechwriter, Jon Favreau, is only 27 years old! (And handsome, I might add.) This dude, in fact, was 2004 presidential hopeful John Kerry's writer as well. If you're feeling like an underachiever, never fret. He may have helped coin the ubiquitous "Yes we can," and "You're the change you've been waiting for," but he still gets drunk and does inappropriate things. What am I talking about? Here's a Myspace picture that shows him (left) groping a cardboard cut-out of Hillary Clinton, who is slated to be the next secretary of state. Ruh. Roh. Click here to read more about boy genius.
