James Franco to Direct and Star in The Adderall Diaries

James Franco must have a thing for literary types: to follow up his portrayal of poet Allen Ginsberg in Howl, the actor has reportedly purchased the rights to Stephen Elliott's The Adderall Diaries: A Memoir of Moods, Masochism and Murder. The drug-addled tale gets inside the mind of author Elliot as he chronicles a strange murder trial and copes with his own substance abuse, depression, and childhood scars. Franco will be adapting, directing, and starring in the lead role. Let it never be said that the guy isn't ambitious!

Soooooo disappointed with his choice of sexual topics in films! He once said around the time of his roles in ANNAPOLIS, FLYBOYS & TRISTAN + ISOLDE that he was looking for movies to do that showcased integrity & honor. I miss the James Franco who wanted that...

I'll admit that James is being ambitious, but I think he has a chance to pull it off. James wants to come out of his comfort zone and try new things. I, for one, applaud him for his courageous move!

As much as I love him, I don't think he understands the gravity of such an endeavor. Adapting the screenplay, directing, and acting in the lead role is too much and he could be comprising the quality of the film by taking on so much. Seriously, James, we know you're brilliant and talented so you can just stop with such things now.
