Mary Shelley's Frankenstein may not have been initially imagined as a sexy monster, but Aaron Eckhart is taking on the role in I, Frankenstein, and he's never looked better — despite all those insane body scars. The new iteration on the classic monster tale comes from the creators of the Underworld series, and this film has a similar gritty feel, complete with tons of CGI creatures. Eckhart's Frankenstein, known as Adam, has been "alive" now for 200 years, and he's battling to save the human race, a feat that costar Bill Nighy says is impossible. Jai Courtney, Miranda Otto, and Yvonne Strahovski all star as well.
Eckhart looks great, but he feels so out of place here. Although he's starred in CGI-heavy action films before (like The Dark Knight), it's bizarre to see him as a modern Frankenstein protecting the world from giant demon gargoyles. Then again, this could be an epic attempt to teach an old monster new tricks, like martial arts and stuff. The movie opens Jan. 24, and you can watch the trailer after the jump.
