The Hunger Games Soundtrack Review (Video)

You've heard every little piece of news about the new Hunger Games movie, but what about the music? Hey there, I'm Lauren Bradshaw and BuzzSugar's Shannon Vestal is here to give you her review of the hot soundtrack in today's PopSugar Rush. Well, the Hunger Games soundtrack came out yesterday and it's already number one on itunes. It's got artists like Taylor Swift, Maroon 5 and Arcade Fire. And even though none of these songs are actually featured during the film, it still feels like an accompaniment to the movie, particularly District 12 which is where Katniss is from. So the songs really half a country, folk rock vibe, and if that's the kind of music you're into I think you'd really like this soundtrack. One of my favorite songs is Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift and the Civil Wars, and it's not really your typical Taylor Swift song It's not poppy. It's not upbeat. It actually sounds a little bit more authentic folk and I think that's due to the fact that The Civil Wars, who are this recent Grammy winning country band, are featured on it and it just sounds really haunting, really soothing. I 've loved Arcade Fire since their debut album. And I'm so psyched to see them on the Hunger Games soundtrack. Their track Abraham's Daughter is this really intense kind of battle cry type song. I just imagine Katniss listening to it to get ready to go into the arena. Five, four, three, two, one. I'm really excited to see Neko Case's feature on this album, and her song Nothing to Remeber is actually one of the few upbeat tracks. The lyrics are pretty bittersweet just like this film, but there are hand claps and "ohs" and I just think it's really addictive. Since the overall feel of the album is very blue grass, very Americana, if you're not into that kind of music, you might not wanna download the entire album but you can still go and check out individual tracks and see which ones you like. You can check out the tracks on iTunes before the movie comes to theaters. The Hunger Games is out on Friday.
