The actress: 20-year-old Lawrence broke out thanks to her Oscar-nominated turn in last year's Winter's Bone; she'll also appear in X-Men: First Class.
The character: Protagonist of The Hunger Games, Katniss is a tough teenager with an undying loyalty to her family and a talent for hunting. She grew up in the post-apocalyptic world of Panem where food is scarce and the corrupt government in the Capitol sends teenagers into a battle to the death for sport. Katniss sacrifices herself to enter the Hunger Games in the place of her little sister Prim, who's chosen by lottery.

I must admit i haven't read the book, which is better to read before watching film (so that's why im going to get it today (: ), but the film was awesome!! when you watch the movie like Avatar, you get the feeling after it which tells you to watch it again and again, i had that same feeling here. and the actors and charaters are that kind that u fall in love with them immediately (metaforicli speaking :). so that's why i would like to see the next part, but from the comments i saw i think that the book will be welcome. for the film and producent i would like to say that he choose the perfect actors for the movie. i love it!! if u haven't watch go into cinema and watch it now!!

I hope they don't turn the second and third books into movies. There was nothing special or standout about them. The second was like a copy cat of the first only less interesting and the third read like it was written by a different author and it was completely depressing.

The casting for the Hunger Games is a HUGE disappointment. The only two that I like are Katniss and Prim. The one character choice that I really don't like is Cinna!

I think a lot of the casting for this has been really good. Especially for Haymitch and Caesar (Stanley Tucci is perfect for this role! And for all those who wanted someone else for Haymitch - RDJ etc, I agree others would have been good but I promise Woody will be just as great). Elizabeth Banks also seems a good fit for Effie. Have to say I was really shocked by the choice for Cinna but I never had a clear picture of Cinna in my head and haven't seen Lenny in anything so it could work. The same goes for the main trio too - I haven't seen them in anything before and minor appearance changes can be made so I'm giving them a chance til I see them in it!

Liam needs to have a huge American breakthrough. The Hemsworth brothers are so sweet. I also love me some Tucci <3Elizabeth and Jennifer look like twins, and the same as every hollywood actress. Yawn.

aembry396, Cinna is the only major character who hasn't been cast yet, but the movie starts shooting next week so I have a feeling we'll know the answer soon! :)
