Hugh Jackman Cast in Snow Flower and the Secret Fan

Book Hugh Jackman a ticket to the far East Coast — the actor has been cast in Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, filming in China. Sources differ on whether Jackman's role is a cameo or the leading man role, but we know he'll be making an appearance in the drama, about two female friends "and their imprisonment by rigid cultural norms."

Jackman is a likable enough guy, but it's always a crapshoot when it comes to his movie choices. It may be some of the cheesier films on his resume — case in point: Kate and Leopold and the upcoming robot drama Real Steel. That said, he's a guy you can't seem to hate, and I do think he's a good actor; I particularly loved The Prestige and X-Men. And of course, his triple threat talents make him an able awards-show host.
