Following this week's big reveal of the mother on How I Met Your Mother, CBS has announced even more big news about the show. Entertainment president Nina Tassler has divulged that next season — the series's final one — will exclusively span the 56 hours leading up to Barney and Robin's wedding. Over the course of that time, each character will get to meet the mother, all culminating in Ted's eventual meeting with her.

Real talk: I'm bummed. Minus the progression of Barney and Robin's relationship, the last few seasons of the show have felt like filler. Finally we get to meet the mother, but after spending almost a decade watching Ted search for her, we're not even going to see their courtship! Maybe I'm overreacting. What are your thoughts?

Are you ready to watch the moment grunge was born? At least according to Rush singer and fellow Canadian Geddy Lee, that is. This week's How I Met Your Mother introduces a whole new side of Robin: Robin Daggers. Turns out the show's resident Canadian has been hiding even more about her torrid past as a teen superstar.

When Barney finds the Robin Sparkles episode of Underneath the Tunes (that's the Great White North's version of Behind the Music), the gang discovers that soon after Robin Sparkles topped the charts, she turned grunge, much to the dismay of her entire country. She publicly denounced her name at the Grey Cup (think Super Bowl for Canadians) and released this ominous video — all for the love of one Paul Shaffer.

The fate of How I Met Your Mother has been up in the air for a while now, with both writers and fans unsure of whether its current season would be its last. Over the weekend, a lot of that smoke was cleared when it was confirmed that How I Met Your Mother will be back next season, which will be its ninth. Now the real question is how the story will be affected, since the writers had to plan for the possibility of the current season being its last. Will we still meet the mother in 2013, or will the show be rewritten to keep us hanging?

I've been a fan of the show since the getgo, but I'm admittedly starting to grow a bit weary of Ted and the gang. Don't get me wrong; I still love all the characters, but a lot of the episodes have started to feel like filler lately. Here's hoping the writers can take us in a new direction now that Barney and Robin are engaged and Ted's inching closer to meeting his soul mate. What's your take: are you excited for more HIMYM, or are you sick of waiting for the mother?
