After an entire Summer without House, you can believe I was ready for last night’s two-hour premiere. With House checked in to an asylum, we knew season six was taking us in to new territory.
From the start they let us know that this was not your typical episode. If the removal of Massive Attack's opening music, replaced with Radiohead's "No Surprises" wasn't enough to tip you off, then maybe the washed-out, dream-like detox scene was. Did you watch, and are you ready to discuss? Find out some of the things I'm dying to talk about (spoilers ahead!), when you read more.
- Where was the medical mystery? I have to admit, while I loved this episode, I kept waiting for the medical mystery. Every time Annie (the catatonic cello player) was on screen, I would think, "Oh he's going to solve this, surely she must have some rare disease." Then after superhero Steve becomes catatonic, I figured the same thing. And when neither of those panned out, I thought it would be Dr. Nolan's father who would be saved. However once the clock started ticking down, it dawned on me. This is the episode where the person who gets saved is House.
- What did you think of the dynamic between House and Nolan? I think Andre Braugher is the perfect foil to House. Their dynamic seems so real, and I love that he essentially blackmails House into getting better and thwarts his attempts to trick Wilson.
- Speaking of Wilson, did you notice that he is the only other cast member to appear? Did you miss the rest of the cast, or were you fine with the new faces? Do you think any of these faces will show up again? I think it would be a treat if Alvie turned up at Princeton Plainsboro with a rap for our favorite diagnostic team.
- While the tone of the episode is admittedly dark, two of my favorite moments had to be when House and superhero Steve are flying at the carnival, and when House joins Alvie on stage for the talent show. I don't think we've ever seen House smiling unless it's to cause the frustration of someone else. How about you, what was your favorite scene?
- How important do you think House's relationship with Lydia (Franka Potente) is? Do you think House would have been "cured" had she not been there?
- Now for another somber moment. Were you also tricked into thinking superhero Steve actually died? I was glad to hear that he's still alive. I don't think House (or myself) could've handled yet another death on the show.
- There were a lot of great quotes during the evening. However, my favorite line of the night is when Alvie tells House that they broke him, and House replies with, "They didn’t break me — I am broken." What was your favorite line?
- Do you think House has really been cured? Or do you think he'll be back to his old tricks and Vicodin pill-popping ways by next week's episode?
Really, there was so much to this week's episode. In fact, it felt like House the Motion Picture, and I think it did a great job in covering the gap between last season and this one. I have no idea where the writers are taking us, but if the rest of the season is as good as last night's premiere, we're in for a treat!

I loved this episode! They showed a new side to him that's been long overdue. My heart kinda melted when he was so intent on making Steve feel better. Just loved it, hope House won't go back to Vicodin, think they're really gonna open him up and see where that takes him. Can't wait to see how he's gonna act in the hospital.
1I liked seeing this new side of House, but I hope he's still curmudgeonly. I want him to change a little, but his grumpiness is such a huge part of his charm!
2i really liked the use of color in this episode. thought it was so cool that the beginning was really dark and dreary with lots of gray and cool tones, and then slowly became more colorful (especially the carnival scene).
3I have mixed feelings about this episode. Some parts I loved, some parts I didn't, but overall I think that it was a very good episode.
4My heart absolutely melted when House cried! Favorite line of the night: "She's gone and..... I'm lost." - Gah! Loved this episode!
5OK i have to say I loved the episode...but the fact that Annie just miraculously healed like that was a bit over the top. I don't think House would even believe that... he would never have accepted that as what it was, unless that's part of the "new" House. That was the only part that really frustrated me.
But I loved Alvie...and I was surprised that Wilson didn't show up more, or visit like he said he would, or even pick him up at the end?
6House would never fall for any woman that fast. Then again, this character with it's intelligence should've evolved much more and much faster than it did. Long-running tv show rules, I guess.
7LOVED this episode-- but did they ever explain the deal with the music box? How did House know it was there or that it was the "cure"?
8Loved this episode!!!!! It took me the whole first hour to figure out that the blonde doctor was the mean sister in Ever After. It drove me nuts!!
9Disliked this episode. And I only disliked it because it was too different from the normal House episodes. If it wasn't a House episode and from some other show, I would have really liked it.
10In the last scene with House on the bus he had that look that he had gotten one over on the doctors, it was kind of a smirk. I dont think hes gonna change very much.
11Great episode. I agree with everything you said, Buzz. I like that they took House to a new, interesting level for one episode. Of course I can't wait to see the rest of the cast, esp. Cuddy (Huddy!!)
12It was a good episode for what it was, but I just really can't wait to get back to the real House.
I missed the rest of the cast terribly in this episode, 30 seconds of Wilson is not NEARLY enough! And I want me some Thirteen, please. And Cuddy. So we can have some
delicious Huddy.
13TERRIBLE episode! I kept expecting house to solve a mystery or to have more tricks up his sleeve. They attempted to make the show more dramatic. If I wanted to watch all that bs I'd be watching Grey's Anatomy or something.
14I thought the whole House/Nolan thing was annoying at first, but I liked it after a while.
15I liked everyone. I miss the everyone, but it was only one episode.
Those were my favorite scenes, too! I liked it when House was with Lydia and Alvie all the time.
I think it would have taken a long time if she hadn't been there.
For real!!!!!! I was sooooo happy when he turned up alive.
I had quite a few good quotes, but the rap was the best.
I think he'll go without vicodin for a while.
you know pinkflake, i thought that same thing! like wth, nobody was even willing to come pick the guy up? he had to sit at a friggen bus stop! that just seemed weird.
and i agree also with #11 about the serene smirk house had on his face in the closing scene. that look, coupled with the smiley face tshirt he was wearing was oddly unsettling. (in a good, i cant wait to see where this goes from here, kind of way)
16you cant beat his acting , even if you didn`t like the episode, one cant help but watch the acting job done by the great doctor .I think he is in the top 20 of great actors in the last 10 years or so.
17I loved this episode! I felt so bad for House when Lydia left in the end. My husband said what about her husband? I said i didn't feel bad for him because they never showed him, i guess if he was "real" then i would have felt bad for him.
I also couldn't believe they gave Annie a music box and then she was fine!
I thought Wilson would pick House up, but when he was on the bus with that look on his face, i kind of expected to see Amber sitting next to him.
18I think even if house pulled one over on Dr. Nolan he learned alot i watched this right after i watch how i met your mother and a quote from the show is needed
19Ted "You do realize they were lying?"
Lily "No Ted they dont realize they went lying"
I loved how there was no medical mystery this week i feel every once in awhile its nice to have a break from the shows normal flow.
I love to see more of Dr. Nolan i feel that he is much like a "Good" version of house. And the two actors play very well off of each other. I got into his character and the other characters from his unit on Ward 6 so much so i would watch a spin off if one was to come of it.
i was thinking exactly the same thing about Amber...the whole episode was so much different from the usual that i kept thinking that it was another hallucination...and in the end no one went to pick him up and he gets on the bus i was really expecting to see Amber... though he did gave that smile so i don't know but I'm think there's something coming from there.
20I loved this episode. It was so different and really showed that even maverick geniuses need help. I loved when the cellist started playing and talking again. That was such a powerful scene.
21Beautiful, touching and surprising. Different yet genuine. As fresh as a spring breeze to start the new season. And I'm a die hard fan. Perfectly pictured the falability of logic in front of the irrationel. As long as it slowly ease into the old stuff, I'm good with it. I doubt we'll see Franke again soon. Too bad. The old premisce of the show is getting old however. This latest episode was a good sign too me that this show is not dead yet. Long live House.
22I loved it. It was totally a House movie, it was great! The one time I thought they were going to trick us is I thought maybe House and Lydia sleeping together was going to be a hallucination (like he had with Cuddy), after making his think he was finally cured. But I'm kind of glad it wasn't, can't wait to see what they do next!
23This was a cool episode.
24- The previous seasons were becoming tooo monotonous. Their was no character development.
- This season made me realize that I just don't miss the old staff. I would be great for house to go to a totally different setting, and start all over again (kind of doctor-in-wild) stuff.
- Season 4-5 were really starting to get -ve tone. House was becoming more and more grouchy, having more personal issues.
This season sure does have promise, This eposide was the best in a while.

I love this show, and would say that House is the best show on tv at the moment. I haven't watched any of the new series yet but will be catching up on Sky Player over the weekend, can't wait.
