ahhhh!!! i LOVE these books-- i hope the movies are just as good! i don't see Hilary Swank in either of the roles, although i don't know who i can picture in them...

I totally loved these books also! I totally agree with you, Buzz. Rebecca Hall, not Hilary Swank. I don't think she really fits in with rom coms. I wasn't totally feeling her in P.S. I Love You either.

Rebecca Hall would be perfect. Hilary is okay, but not in these types of roles.

it's really interesting - i always see this series of books in the store yet i've never picked them up. i guess it has to do with cover art - that's how i get lured into a book. maybe now i'll have to pick them up knowing that there's going to be a movie made.

I've always wanted to read these books, I'll have to read them before the movie(s) is/are made. Hilary Swank should stay away from doing any more romantic comedies, she just seemed out of her element in P.S. I Love You.

I love both of these books. Hmmm, not sure def not hillary swank. I liked rebecca hall in vicky christina barcelona..she might be good, she looks like a lawyer! But what about Darcy's character? Malin Akerman? Kate Hudson?

I LOVE Something Borrowed and want to read Something Blue soon. I am quite excited about this, as long as they don't screw it up.

Interesting how the chick flick actresses (Meg Ryan, Sandra Bullock) desperately want to get dramatic parts, and drama chick Hilary is desparately trying to get a chick flick part. While Meg and Sandra can do drama, I can't say the same about Hilary; I'm in agreement with the other commenters on P.S. I Love You.

I thought patrick dempsey too at first, but then decided he is a bit old to play Dex

I love reading these books! Here's my picks:

Rachel - Rachel McAdams
Darcy - Scarlett Johansonn - not a bog fan, but she can play her well
Dex - Chris Evans (he was so cute in nanny Diaries)

OMG, I LOVE Emily Giffin's writing style, she's so great. I feel like this is "chick lit" that I can really get on board for, you know?
Malin Akerman as Darcy is such a good idea! The other one I thought of was Becki Newton from Ugly Betty. She's so good at being catty and shallow, but also kinda pitiable at times. She could rock the Darcy.

If she plans to be in both ... that would be Darcy right? It's been a while and I don't see her in that role. Maybe Rachel in the first one. Those books were really entertaining though so I do look forward to screen adaptions.

All I know is this- Swank should stick to dramatic pieces because PS I love you was not her greatest work at all!!

OH NOOO I hope Swank will not be in any of the movies, she definitely does not fit any character. Well, maybe Claudia in Baby Proof, but none in the Something Borrowed/Something Blue series.

I always saw Aaron Eckhart as Dex. His facial structure always struck me as the perfect Dex type. He just needs to dye his hair brown.

And Buzz, I'm glad Something Borrowed is your favorite too. Everyone I know likes Something Borrowed, but loves Something Blue and it's the opposite with me. I can relate with Rachel a lot better and Darcy wasn't my favorite character.

Something Borrowed is an amazing book and I've read it several times. I've read Something Blue once, but I'm dying to read it again! These books were excellently done and I'm hoping if there is to be a movie, it turns out good.
I've read all the comments and thought about my picks for the main characters!
Rachel: I would have to say Rebecca Hall, I never thought her at first, but now that I heard it from others, it would be a good fit and she just looks how I imagined Rachel.
Darcy: Becki Newton from Ugly Betty. Wow! Didn't even come up with it at first, but if you look at it, she would make an amazing Darcy. Just look at her! Haha, she even looks like the way she were described... but didn't Darcy have chocolate coloured hair?
Dex: I would say James Marsden (in my opinion) doesn't have that sex appeal that Dex seems to give off. Chris Evans may be a good choice, but there probably is a sexy guy out there that would fit his role well.
Ethan: I couldn't say right now, but it be an amazing search!

Oh My Gosh I completely agree with you about Rebecca Hall as playing Rachel. After seeing Vicky Cristina Barcelona I pictured her when I reading Something Borrowed. That would be amazing if Rebecca Hall did this movie.

Darcy's character is not blonde! She is brunette. And it needs to be someone REALLY beautiful. Like Megan Fox.

I will probably cry is Hilary Swank plays Rachel. I have been looking forward to the movie adaptation of this book for such a long time and I know she will ruin it!
