New Man of Steel Trailer: Superman Is a God, a Ghost, and a Guardian Angel

Director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel is already one of the most highly anticipated movies of the Summer, and the latest trailer makes me even more excited for it.

Director Zack Snyder's Man of Steel is already one of the most highly anticipated movies of the Summer, and the latest trailer makes me even more excited for it. The cryptic first preview finds Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill) struggling with his identity and his place in the world, and while this new one is no less existential, it does show a lot more of the supporting cast. We see Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Superman's real father, in the midst of his planet's destruction, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Clark's protective adoptive parents, Michael Shannon in action as villain General Zod, and Amy Adams as intrepid reporter Lois Lane.

Though I was initially skeptical of Adams as Lois, the interaction between her and Superman in the last moments of the trailer is giving me a lot more faith in her casting. I'm also loving the dark but hopeful tone of the movie, which could be a refreshing change of pace from the many other Superman films we've seen before. Man of Steel opens June 14, but until then, watch the new trailer after the jump.

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer hit the town last night to celebrate the GREAT British Film Reception. The bash was held at the British Consul General’'s Residence, and after posing on a red carpet, the True Blood couple headed inside to mingle with Les Miserables director Tom Hooper as well as Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill and his girlfriend Gina Carano. While Anna is Australian, both Henry and Stephen are Brits who seemed happy to mingle with their fellow countryman Tom. Anna and Stephen have had quite a fun week so far — they also attended a star-studded Tom Ford party a few days ago. They're among the many actors and actresses hitting the town before the Oscars, which are tomorrow!

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer attended Tom Ford's cocktail event in support of Project Angel Food in Beverly Hills last night. Anna wore a sexy black dress as she posed for photos with husband Stephen. The True Blood couple weren't the only lovebirds at the event: Henry Cavill had girlfriend Gina Carano on his arm, while Elton John brought husband David Furnish to the stylist fete. Girls star Allison Williams also dropped by in a stunning embroidered black-and-white frock.

The Tom Ford bash was just one of several pre-Oscars events that took place in LA last night. Party-hopper Adrien Brody managed to visit three parties, including the Tom Ford event and a Vanity Fair bash with Josh Hartnett. It's all leading up to the big show on Sunday — be sure to join us Feb. 24 for our LIVE Oscars viewing party starting at 5:30 p.m. EST / 2:30 p.m. PST.

Man of Steel Trailer: Listen, Superman Has a Lot on His Mind

Finally! After a teaser and the recent poster for the latest Superman installment, a full trailer for Man of Steel is here.

Finally! After a teaser and the recent poster for the latest Superman installment, a full trailer for Man of Steel is here. In this longer look, it's clear that director Zack Snyder's Superman may be the most psychologically burdened version of the icon so far. We meet Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) as a young boy who's perplexed by his superhuman abilities, which aren't helped when his human father (Kevin Costner) advises him to keep that side of himself hidden after he saves a school bus full of classmates. Fast-forward to him as an introspective adult working through his issues (made apparent by his beard and water meditation). He obviously has a way to go before he becomes the flying, red-and-blue suited hero we see by the end of the trailer.

There's so much to see in this preview, like Superman being hauled off in handcuffs (like in the poster), as well as famous characters, though those glimpses are pretty brief. Still, it's exciting to see Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, and Michael Shannon as villain General Zod. We still have to wait until next June to see the movie, but you can take a look at the new Superman in action after the jump.

4 Sexy Superheroes Need Your Help in Our Shirtless Bracket

Summer is winding down, but our PopSugar 2012 Shirtless Bracket is still burning with hotness!

Summer is winding down, but our PopSugar 2012 Shirtless Bracket is still burning with hotness! Good-looking guys are vying for this year's title of sexiest six-pack, but some of Hollywood's biggest stars need your help to unseat the current leader, Robert Pattinson.

Abs are an important factor in casting superheroes, especially the leading men lucky enough to helm major movie franchises. Chris Hemsworth bared skin playing Thor, but he'll need your votes to hammer home a win. Ryan Reynolds put his entire body on display in a figure-hugging Green Lantern costume, and Henry Cavill's pecs of steel are headed to the big screen in next Summer's Superman reboot, Man of Steel. We've seen X-Men star Hugh Jackman transform into his alter ego, Wolverine, in front of cameras, and it's his toned torso that's been known to steal scenes. These are just a few of the sexy superheroes in the running, so be sure to vote for your favorite crime fighter by filling out your shirtless bracket!

See Henry Cavill Fly as Superman in the Man of Steel Teaser!

If you didn't know you were watching the teaser for the new Superman movie, you probably wouldn't figure it out until the very end of the trailer for Man of Steel.

If you didn't know you were watching the teaser for the new Superman movie, you probably wouldn't figure it out until the very end of the trailer for Man of Steel. That's because the first preview of the movie doesn't exactly look like a superhero movie: we see a lot of laundry flapping in the breeze and a scruffy Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) doing work aboard a fishing boat. We hear the voice of Kevin Costner (Clark's adoptive father) saying that he's going to "change the world." It almost seems like an indie movie until the big payoff at the end: we see Superman fly!

Suffice it to say, I'm going to need to see a lot more footage from this movie before making a decision about how I feel about it, but this teaser is encouraging. It looks like director Zack Snyder is steering away from the cartoonish comic book movies of the past and closer to darker, grittier takes like Batman Begins. The film doesn't hit theaters until Summer 2013, so there's plenty of time to watch the teaser again and again when you read more

The Cold Light of Day Trailer: Henry Cavill Heads to Spain to Kick Butt

Get excited: the oh-so-dreamy Henry Cavill (that's the next Superman, in case you didn't know) brings his good looks to The Cold Light of Day trailer.

Get excited: the oh-so-dreamy Henry Cavill (that's the next Superman, in case you didn't know) brings his good looks to The Cold Light of Day trailer. In the film, Will (Cavill) and his family are traveling abroad and soaking up the sun in a beautiful seaside Spanish town for what appears to be a relaxing getaway. Everything changes when he runs out for a quick errand, and upon his return, he finds an empty boat and his whole family gone. We learn that his father (Bruce Willis) really works for the CIA, and someone has kidnapped the whole clan. Despite the fact that he has no training or plan, Will and his instinct ("his only weapon") attempt to save the day.

This movie may look like a million other movies we've seen before, but I've said it once, and I'll say it again: Henry Cavill is hot. I loved him in Immortals, and can't wait to see what he'll bring to this thriller. Plus, I'm glad to see him in such talented company, including Sigourney Weaver, who has a supporting role. To step into The Cold Light of Day and see a shirtless Cavill dive into the ocean, just keep reading.

Immortals: One Divine 3D Experience

Everyone may be jumping on the 3D bandwagon these days, but Tarsem Singh's sword-and-sandals epic Immortals is a movie perfectly fit for the 3D screen.

Everyone may be jumping on the 3D bandwagon these days, but Tarsem Singh's sword-and-sandals epic Immortals is a movie perfectly fit for the 3D screen. The opening scene foreshadows the predictable plot to come, but that doesn't make this film any less of a bloody-good visual masterpiece. And while it's impossible to ignore the obvious comparison to 300 (it has the same producers, after all), Immortals has a few tricks up its sleeve, allowing it to stand apart. The brutal and psychotic King Hyperion (Mickey Rourke) and his Heraklion legions are on a quest for the invincible Bow of Epirus. Once it's in his possession, he will be able to unleash the Titans and overthrow the gods on Mt. Olympus. On a seemingly insignificant pillaging spree, he comes across Theseus (Henry Cavill), a lowly stonemason at the very bottom of the social food chain.

Little does Hyperion know, Theseus has been trained by Zeus in disguise on Earth and is one hell of a fierce warrior (not to mention a generally gorgeous creature). After Theseus's mother is murdered by Hyperion, Theseus goes on a quest to take the king down. But as the movie progresses, Theseus's mission evolves when he realizes this crusade has a far larger reach than a personal vendetta. Once a nonbeliever in the gods, he comes to understand that they are on his side. Keep reading to learn where Immortals is truly visionary and where it needs divine intervention.

Kellan Takes His New Romance Public at the Immortals Premiere With Freida and Henry

Kellan Lutz arrived on the red carpet at his Immortals premiere in LA last night holding hands with his girlfriend, actress Sharni Vinson.

Kellan Lutz arrived on the red carpet at his Immortals premiere in LA last night holding hands with his girlfriend, actress Sharni Vinson. Kellan and Sharni reportedly started dating back in July, and weren't shy about showing some PDA last night, sneaking in a kiss as they arrived. The duo were on hand to join Kellan's costars, including Freida Pinto, Henry Cavill, and Stephen Dorff for the big debut at Nokia Live, which drew a large crowd of fans and spectators.

Freida, who arrived in a gorgeous Antonio Berardi dress and Chopard jewelry, walked the carpet solo but changed into a short party dress to reunite with her real-life leading man, Dev Patel, at the afterparty. We spoke with Freida about the modernized Greek epic and her cast of very handsome costars. Freida dished on her admiration for her love interest in the film, Henry. Henry, who has been shooting Man of Steel in recent months, has been showing off his remarkable abs on the set of the Superman reboot lately. Last night, he told us Immortals required just as much physical preparation. In fact, he said the movie's director, Tarsem, told him a six-pack just wasn't good enough — he needed an eight pack for the role! For more from the premiere, stay tuned for today's PopSugar Rush!
