In a throwdown between a notorious biker gang leader and a major pay-cable network, who wins? We're about to find out, as Hells Angels founder Sonny Barger has filed a lawsuit saying HBO stole his ideas without credit when creating the upcoming biker-gang drama 1%.
The show, which stars Donal Logue, was about to start production on its pilot. But Barger is arguing that the pilot's writer and producer, Michael Tolkin, is using stories they developed together without giving him credit. Tolkin was once hired to write a screenplay based on Barger's autobiography, and Barger says he also told Tolkin about a number of novels he'd written based on a fictional motorcycle club. The two apparently pitched the idea for a series together, and Barger claims that after he objected to a number of details in the pilot, HBO decided it wanted nothing to do with him. According to the suit, the original pilot used Barger's nickname (Chief), some actual place names (the major setting of Carefree, AZ, which is near Barger's home), and details of his life (that he moved from Northern California) without giving any credit. All of those details have since been changed.
Barger now wants due credit for his ideas — and it's not clear if this will keep the pilot from getting off the ground. The thing is, I'm pretty sure nobody wants to mess with the Hells Angels.

2And then people wonder why the Angels are suspicious of outsiders when a lot of idiots either burn them (like HBO) or try to set them up to get busted (like Jay Dobbins and Tony Tait). I have known HA's on and off for over 30 years, and it is my experience that, as the saying goes, treat them good they'll tret you better...but treat them bad and they'll damn sure treat you worse! Give 'em hell, Sonny!
3The angels get a bad rap as it is. you see these clubs on gang land and others and there trouble makers and hell raisers... These guys are normal people they have been in my life since i was born. Hbo wants to make the money off sonny's stories without paying up for his credit it's totally wrong. Fight sonny!
4I own HBO Cinemax showtime CNN ABC NBC Universal Studios Macmillion and American wins On Line (AOL) and Warner Bros. So I really don't think that any of the moivies accurately displays the Hells Angels since their "New" Charter that was written by hand by me Rocky A. Huryta back awile ago from Demographic Location G.I. Neb, US"A". So therefore the lower class scum who broke into my Rocky,s Studio's and falseified the old new and future movies evly remotely new what they were doing evly when they had a conscience cause they brung in a total of negative dollars evely if there initial installation of 1969 was there own currency and not conterfeit. Well anyhow that is why they put in such puppet figureheads such as Ronald Reagan ,&, Arnold Swartenegger. The Humans puppet figureheads called down there the Human Tinseills.
