Serena never ceases to amaze me with her poor choice in men: a professor, a married politician, and now her fake cousin's blackmailing ex-boyfriend Max. True, Serena doesn't know Max's (or her cousin's) real identity, but she doesn't know much else about him before spending a 24-hour date with him, and swooning over the thought of baking a cake with him for CeCe's party. Max is only trying to get on Serena's good side, in case he should need to expose the truth about Charlie. But when Serena overhears her mother and Aunt Carol talking about Charlie having gone by the name "Ivy," which is also the name of Max's ex-girlfriend, Serena realizes Max and Ivy have been lying to her, and she confronts the pair. Of course, Charlie concocts a new lie, claiming that Max is blackmailing her with a sex tape, and Serena and the rest of the Rhodes family show Max the door.
