Chuck and Blair think they're alone, but Louis's mother steps in to threaten Blair about reinstating the dowry. When she leaves, Chuck offers to pay, but Blair refuses to let Chuck pay for her (and also, it seems, she finally lets go of her pact with God to save Chuck). However, she refuses Chuck's offer and says the only answer is to go back to Louis.
Meanwhile, Eleanor confronts Louis, saying she'll pay up, insisting that his family will not control hers. He stands there, smug, as she gives him a piece of her mind. But Blair cuts in to say that she's already made up her mind to stay married to Louis for a year because she can't stand the thought of Eleanor losing everything to save her.
