Franco Is Back on Daytime TV, Looking Scruffier Than Ever

I'm kinda over the whole "James Franco: Soap Opera Star" thing, but I couldn't resist hitting the play button on this sneak peek at his return to General Hospital, which airs today. And then I couldn't resist giggling a little. I don't know if it's the open-mouthed expression on his face or the fact that he just looks so dirty, but even if you know nothing about the show, it's good for a morning laugh.
Check out the video after the jump.

James Franco Writes About His Soap Work — Is It Performance Art or Does He Take Himself Too Seriously?
James Franco has been mixing things up with his role on General Hospital, and his character apparently encountered some trouble with the law considering this mugshot. He's also trying to provoke a larger discussion around his work in the series with a piece he wrote for today's Wall Street Journal. He penned a lengthy examination of performance art, attempting to answer whether this project constitutes a legitimate example. He wrote,

"I disrupted the audience's suspension of disbelief, because no matter how far I got into the character, I was going to be perceived as something that doesn't belong to the incredibly stylized world of soap operas. Everyone watching would see an actor they recognized, a real person in a made-up world."
His three days on set will ultimately translate into 23 episodes worth of work, and once those are over, his "character's storyline will be advanced in a special episode filmed in a 'legitimate' New York gallery." It seems as though James put a great deal of thought into this latest project, so tell us what you think — is he creating performance art or is it just an example of an actor taking himself too seriously?
Which Guest Star Are You Most Excited to See This Week?
November sweeps is here, which means appearances by big names on some of my favorite shows. We've already seen the likes of Samantha Ronson and Pharrell on 90210, but now we're getting to the exciting stuff.

Lady Gaga hits Gossip Girl tonight — check out a sneak peek here — before Melrose Place welcomes back Heather Locklear tomorrow night. And who could forget James Franco's big cameo on General Hospital? While I'm still baffled by his career move — not to mention those early pics — Franco on a soap opera is bound to be hilarious.
All of this means lots of TV-watching for me, and luckily none of the shows are on the same night, so I don't even have to pick favorites! Still, I'm curious to hear your opinion — which guest appearance is earning the top spot on your TiVo?
Will You Tune In to See James Franco on General Hospital?
We've already seen awesome photos of James Franco's upcoming appearance on General Hospital, and now here's a video preview of his exciting debut. It's safe to say that James's arrival in Port Charles will be spicing things up for the show, in which he'll star as an artist who suspiciously witnesses a murder. This clip is amazing! Even if soaps aren't in your usual TV lineup, seeing James on daytime TV is pretty exciting. So, tell us — will you tune in to see James on General Hospital?
Sneak Peek at James Franco on General Hospital!
Even if you're not a soap opera fan, these photos from James Franco's upcoming appearance on General Hospital are too funny to miss. His character's backstory is still being kept under wraps, but we can make a few guesses based on these shots. The episode will air on Nov. 20, but you can get your Franco fix right now.

Not a Joke: James Franco To Appear on General Hospital
It's not April Fool's, I have not started abusing substances, this is an actual news story: James Franco is set to guest star on daytime soap opera General Hospital.
Oh and it's not just some walk-on role as a favor or a dare: Franco will star in a multi-episode arc, which will last for about two months, and he'll play a "mysterious character" (of course he will). What's more, he apparently approached General Hospital himself with the idea. His first episode will air on November 20.
This whole story is kind of too crazy to not believe, so let's just go with it. Admittedly, I used to watch General Hospital back in the day, so I am so going to set my TiVo to watch this.
What are your thoughts on this? Do you think this is all an elaborate bit, or could Franco be a closet soap fan? Most importantly, are you going to tune in?
