Funny People or Julie and Julia: Which Interests You More?

In my poll last week, many of you expressed interest in seeing the Judd Apatow-directed Funny People in theaters. Next weekend the Meryl Streep-Amy Adams movie, Julie and Julia, about one woman's quest to try every recipe in Julia Child's Mastering The Art of French Cooking opens in theaters as well. One focuses largely on two men (played by Adam Sandler and Seth Rogen) along with issues of mortality, comedy and male friendship, while the other is based on the lives of two women who, at the very least, shared a love of good food.

These are some of our only options these days for mainstream (and widely released) adult comedies-with-heart, so I ask you: Which are you more interested in seeing?

i love the book from julie and julia so that's the movie that i'm more interested in. i like adam sandler but the movies that he does are more of the rent ones for me.

both seem semi-predictable but I would rather see Julie & Julia over Funny People if I had to choose.

Since I read the woman's blog, and the book, I have no interest in seeing the movie. I am surprised the movie will have real content! The blog and book was just full of BS to me. Funny People gets my vote.

Not only will I watch anything with Meryl Streep in it, but I really cant wait to see Julie & Julia Im sure its gonna be great!!!!!

I adore Amy Adams and thought they did a terrific job together in Doubt, so I'm definitely there. I like Judd Apatow's films, but this one just doesn't seem to have any plot in the previews/trailers I've seen, and reviews have said it was only so-so, so I may just skip it.

I'd love to see both but I'm more interested in seeing Funny People. I've been particularly interested in the post-Punch Drunk Love career of Adam Sandler, who's shown, through the guidance of PT Anderson, that he can actually act and create a convincing and complex character on scren. Moving away from the shlock movies he became famous for (Happy Gilmore, Waterboy, Little Nicky, etc), and doing movies like Punch-Drunk Love, Spanglish and Reign Over Me have been great for him, and I imagine Funny People to be a move in the right direction. I'm also interested to see how Judd Apatow fares in attempting a movie stylistically distinct from the types of movies that have become typical of him. It's advertised as less of the same, and I'm hoping it's true for the sake of progression, and to curb what's starting to become stagnant of the generation of Apatow comedy.But, this weekend I'm seeing 500 Days of Summer and the Hurt Locker. Funny People and Julie and Julia will have to wait.

I completely dig Amy Adams, so that one gets my first vote. But I'm intrigued by Funny People as well, so I'll probably see both.

Time Travelish movies, including flashback style, have always intrigued me. And I would never miss anything with Amy Adams in it. So by the very narrowest of margins, Julie & Julia.
