Fun or Fail: Movie Theater Seats That Move You

I spotted this post today about movie theater seats that will "enhance" the movie-watching experience by shaking the viewer in correlation to the action onscreen. Apparently, it's a "motion-generating system called D-Box Motion Code, which will accompany films by shaking theater seats." The upcoming Fast and Furious movie will be the first to have these shaky seats.

What do you think of seats that actually make you feel like you're zooming around in a fast car or . . . experiencing an earthquake, or something? Is this a fun idea? Or full of fail?

If a movie needs a gimmick like this, that should tell you something about the movie.

I tend to curl up in seats and the fact that I am small would make for a hospital stay waiting to happen.

fun in amusement parks, so why not try it for select movies?

I've experienced this in 4D movie theaters and I think that's where it should stay.

at cool as the technology sounds - i think that i'd have to pass on that one. i don't know - there's just something wrong with that concept. if you go to disney world - you have seats like that in some of the shows- and i think that it's the right place for it, but in a regular theater - i'm not so sure.

This reminds me of "Matinee" with John Goodman. In the movie he introduced people to "rumble-rama" where the seats move and shake. It seems like it would be fun..but in a scary movie I think I'd have a heart attack!

I think its a great idea. They should have one theater with the moving seats and one without for people that don't want the experience.

Maybe they should have some of the seats that do this and the rest that don't move. That way, anyone that wants to try it can do so and the people that don't can sit still :)
