It's the end of an era: The Ausiello Report has confirmed that beloved drama Friday Night Lights will end after its fifth season. On the positive side, though the show ended its fourth season last night on DirecTV, we won't even see a premiere of it on NBC until April 30. That means we still have a while before the fifth season begins, and will be able to give the Panthers a fitting good-bye.

In general, it's sad news for FNL fans, who've weathered multiple threats of cancellation, participated in campaigns to save the show, and an unconventional move to DirecTV. On the other hand, it's been such an emotional roller coaster that it's kind of a relief, plus I'm eager to see cast members like Zach Gilford, Kyle Chandler, and Connie Britton move on to more stable projects.

It will be infintely saddening to say goodbye to FNL, but it's had such a fantastic run. I really don't mind if it had an organic end on its own terms. I'll make peace with this loss over time. Luckily we have 4 INCREDIBLE seasons to return to time and again, plus one more season to look forward to!

It will be sad to see the show end. But five years is a good run for a drama that isn't focused on doctors, lawyers or cops. I hope the cast gets good roles again especially Kyle and Connie.

As that all the original cast members will have graduated from high school by next season, I think ending the show is probably for the best. Plus going into the fifth season knowing that it's the last season allows them to tie things up and go out on their terms instead of constantly trying to both tie things up and leave things open for another possible season.

And I just read that there's not much Riggins in Season 5. Lame, producers. At least give me lots of shirtless Taylor Kitsch if you're taking it away.

I'm sort of happy that they're not going to turn it into FNL: The College Years, but I'll definitely be sad to see them go. Especially Tim Riggins. Le sigh.

I'm okay with this, never thought we'd see five seasons! NBC is usually good about giving shows with low ratings a chance (i.e Seinfeld, 30 Rock). Wish ABC would do the same! No, I'm not still bitter about Pushing Daisies.... Anyways, sad to see it go but happy we have a while till the last ep!

That's the problem when a show is set in high school. No matter how amazing it is, it can't go on forever.

I'm lucky enough to have Direct TV so I've seen the new season.(excpet last nights finale that I recorded) It has been such a great season. A lot of great new characters that they can still do so much with. It makes me sad that it has to come to an end. I am greatful that there is still next season!
