Carey Mulligan is intoxicating in her breakout role as An Education's young Jenny. At once easily channeling naivete, then sophistication, Mulligan is absolutely mesmerizing (my review was basically a love letter to her performance). She's garnered plenty of nominations so far, and I think her next one will be for the Oscar.

Are you kidding me. If the Academy has any sense left in this world, they do, and will not vote on the basis of how big was an actor's year in terms of box office or public likeability. Performance wise we all know Meryl was the best this year. And she deserves it. Even if you don't think so, consider her last year's performance for Doubt, her this year of 2 hit movies, her wayyyyy overdue Oscar theory, and the respect and admiration she has in the industry. You wait and see guys, She's gonna take her 3rd win this year.

the nominees will be: Meryl Streep, Carey Mulligan, Gaborey sidibe, sandra bullock and hellen mirren. End of discussion. I hate to say something like: good bye Abbie cornish. Ronan and blunt are fithing for the 5º place, but i don't thing that one of them will be nominated. I like Saoirce in the lovely bones but not good enough like I see her in atonement, and blunt, she in the race because she was nominated for the golden globes and bfca, she can do better.
