I Am Legend, opening in December, looks like another apocalyptic Will Smith movie, though any details beyond that are vague. From this new trailer, it looks like something wipes out all of New York City — except for Will Smith and his dog, though IMDB has a more informative plot description: "Robert Neville is the last man alive. He busies himself with preparing for a nightly attack from the rest of the world — all of which have transformed into blood-thirsty vampires."
I do wish there were a little more meat to this trailer for I Am Legend — especially if there are vampires involved — though it's still eerie to see such an abandoned New York City, and the idea of being left alone in that environment is pretty terrifying.

Oooh, I had heard they were re-making this. Richard Matheson stories translate well to screen, I hope they don't mess it up.
1I love Will Smith, but vampires - not so much. I am curious about the movie, but I don't know yet if I'll see it in the theater.
2I saw the preview for this when I saw Oceans 13 this past wknd, looks like it could be good! I'd like to know more too!
312.14.07!!!! i have to wait that long. The trailer has really gotten my attention, in spite of its minimal actions in it.
4This was originally going to be directed by Ridley Scott (Blade Runner, Alien, Gladiator) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, but the deal fell through for budget reasons. Schwarzenegger is still a producer, but it's now being directed by Michael Bay (Bad Boys, The Island, Transformers).
"The Omega Man" (1971) starring Charleton Heston was an adaptation of the same book an even had the same tagline, apparently: "The last man alive...is not alone!"
The movie could be to vampire movies what Seven Days Later was to zombie movies if they do it right. One can hope.
5I also saw the trailer before Ocean's 13. It definitely had the attention of everyone in the theatre. I love how vague it is...what a great way to get the buzz rolling. (There's my film studies self coming out again. lol)
6this also sound a bit like the youtube show call afterworld. i love this type of movies.
7hey Buzz, here is a link to the book plot which is what the movie is about:

I loved the book but it didn't take place in NYC. And for some reason I never pictured the lead character to be a younger man...I always pictured him to be a grumpy, old white dude sort of like the Kris Kristofferson character in the Blade movies. Anyways, I'm just hoping that they won't ruin the essence of the story.
9That looks super creepy. I kinda want to read the book now.
10i read (somewhere) that he plays a scientist and trys to "cure them" with his blood through transfusions. thr trailer i saw showed his wife and 2 kids just before they appear to be blown up. so i'm guessing st least one of them will be among the affected. ewwwwww, creep-pee.
11I reeally liked this book. I'm glad I got to read it before I ever knew a movie version was coming out. Although I have high hopes for it, this could potentially be a flop!
12Saw the filming of a few car scenes on Park Avenue in NYC last year, right outside my apartment. They transformed Park Ave into a wasteland, if you can believe it, so if there's only one reason to see it, go for the special effects!
13wait are there vampires in this one??
