From the youngsters of Slumdog Millionaire beaming onstage to Kate Winslet's dad's whistle, this year's Oscar broadcast was full of fun, funny, and touching moments. In addition to those two, I also loved Danny Boyle accepting his Best Director award while bouncing like Tigger the tiger, James Franco and Seth Rogen bringing a little Pineapple Express stoner humor to the Oscars, and Dustin Lance Black giving an emotional and personal speech in accepting his Best Original Screenplay award.

gtargrlxo, the song "jai ho" was actually written by A.R. Rahman, Nicole Scherzinger is just doing a remake of it. I loved the entire show, it was great from start to finish :0)

"Only negative: the weird camera pans during the In Memoriam segment. I see you've got that great set, but I want to see Cyd Charisse, you know?" So true! My favourite part was Kate Winslet FINALLY winning an Oscar. I though Hugh was fantastic as host and I really like the new format for presenting the best actor/actresses awards.

I pretty much loved it all, especially Dev Patel holding up the little Latika when they won for Best Picture and spinning around. I couldn't help but "awww!". I also loved that they kept some presenters on for a while instead of changing the. Overall, I think this helped the whole show feel less rushed, and I only remember them music-ing someone off stage once. Oh, and being a kiwi, I loved Hugh's recession joke about NZ, "Next year I'll be doing a movie called New Zealand" and Kate's little shout out to Peter Jackson for directing her in her first movie, Heavenly Creatures. She is so nice.

The opening with Hugh and Anne...Penelope Cruz winning for Vicky Cristina Barcelona...and of course, seeing Kate Winslet FINALLY win an Oscar!

I thought that the previews of 2009 movies accompanied by Beck's new song "Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat" was a great way to end the broadcast.

Amazing Oscars. It didn't have as many of those boring moments that marked the ceremonies in the past. -Hugh Jackman's opening act. "I'm a slumdog. I'm a wrestler. I'm WOLVERINE! This is the Oscars." His musical theater background definitely made the ceremony great. Plus, who knew Anne Hathway could sing? Beautiful! -Slumdog Millionaire- I think the genuine emotion of this cast/crew as they accepted their awards was just so heartfelt and good to see. The ending with the win for Best Picture, Danny Boyle's acceptance speech. A.R. Rahman's acceptance speech ending in Tamil with a translation "God is great" after winning Best Original Score. -Best Song Presentation with A.R. Rahman and John Legend performing the songs from Slumdog and Wall-E -Kate Winslet "Dad, whistle or something so I know where you are" Beautiful. -Anne Hathway and Shirley McLaine-that was the most sincere speech from a former award winner to a nominee. -Jennifer Aniston and Jack Black. When Black said he made more money by taking the salary from his Dreamworks movie and then betting it all on Pixar before presenting the animated film winner. Hilarious. -Natalie Portman and Joaquin Phoenix...I mean Ben Stiller. Hilarious. -Queen Latifah and in memoriam. -Heath Ledger's family accepting the Best Supporting Actor Award on his behalf. "We accept this in honor of your beautiful Matilda." Simply Beautiful.

Kate Winslet's dad for SURE. Also, Ben Stiller ragging on Joaquin was priceless. Though I wish he would've stopped while the cinematographer's clips were playing. I felt that was a bit rude to steal some of the limelight away from those who truly deserved it.

I have to admit my bias and say that as a Gay man Dustin Lance Black's most eloquent and respectful acceptance speech had me in tears. I couldn't have said it better my self.

everything but the high school musical kids/beyonce number. that was a very WTF moment for me... other wise: loved the gorgeous set, man on wire, anne hathaway, dustin lance black's touching speech, sean penn's deprecating humor, domo arigato mr. roboto, and of course everything SLUMDOG(yay for tigger)!

I really appreciated Sean Penn's notice to Mickey Rourke. And also his self-deprecating speech. And his mention that Prop 8 will come down in 50 years or so like something so obsolete and shameful, kind of like segregation...

I wasn't sure about the new format changes at first, but after watching the whole thing last night, I found that it was the best ceremony I had seen in at least five years. I loved the assembly of 5 Oscar-winning performers that won in their respective categories, and each of them saying something special about each of nominees from this past year. And it seemed like each past winner fit the nominees they were individually honoring (Whoopi Goldberg on Amy Adams; Christopher Walken on Michael Shannon; Robert DeNiro on Sean Penn; Sophia Loren on Meryl Streep, etc.) That was the biggest highlight for me, and I hope it will turn into a tradition in the future. Three other things I liked: 1) Hugh Jackman doing his song-and-dance for the Best Picture contenders at the beginning. No need for special effects for this intro! I would have subtracted Anne Hathaway though; despite a decent singing voice, she was too hammy for my taste and didn't look like an Oscar nominee up there. 2) The awarding for Adapted and Original Screenplay. I liked how they showed the text in line with the scenes of the films they were showing. 3) The brief musical numbers for Best Song. Long enough to illustrate them and let them pop, but not too long where it gets tiring. Well done, 81st Annual Academy Awards!

That Sean Penn won for Best Actor was a real highlight for me. Having past winners introduce the nominees and announce the winner was very, very nice. And, Hugh Jackman is just awesome.

I could hardly understand what he was saying half the time and then he busted out with "Domo aregato, Mr. Roboto" and my friend and I had to do a double take because we were confused for a second. And then we were like wow that was AWESOME!I have to say this Oscar was one of my favorites...captivating from start to finish.

"Thank you, my pencil.... domo arigato, mr. roboto" that was THE moment. And Shirley MacLaine was amazing... It was awesome to see her and Sophia Loren... I'm a huge classic Hollywood fan.
