Kerry Washington teamed up with her fellow ABC stars for a special bash to celebrate the upfronts in NYC last night.

Kerry Washington teamed up with her fellow ABC stars for a special bash to celebrate the upfronts in NYC last night. She wore a red Marc by Marc Jacobs leather dress as she walked the black carpet alongside stars like Rebel Wilson, Hayden Panettiere, and the Modern Family cast. Hayden wore a purple Herve Leger dress and flashed a diamond ring inside the bash with boyfriend Wladimir Klitschko. However, despite persisting rumors that Hayden is engaged to Wladimir, she wore the ring on her right hand, not on her engagement ring finger.

Kerry's been preparing for the season finale of Scandal, which airs on Thursday. She stopped by Ellen to promote the episode, which she says ends with a "crazy" cliffhanger. Kerry added, "The season finale — the very last line of the episode, I almost couldn't get it out of my mouth."

Identity Thief: McCarthy Steals Laughs in an Unremarkable Comedy

A woman steals a man's identity, and without the help of police, the man tracks her down to bring her to justice.

A woman steals a man's identity, and without the help of police, the man tracks her down to bring her to justice. Sounds like the recipe for a romantic comedy, right? Well, Identity Thief couldn't be further from a love story. Bateman is Sandy Patterson, the everyman who becomes the unwitting target of Diana (McCarthy), a small-time identity thief. In no time at all, Sandy ends up with creditors at his heels and cuffed at the police station as a result of Diana's shenanigans. Though the cops acknowledge it's an identity theft, state laws dictate that the criminal is Florida's problem, leaving Sandy with no choice but to find Diana himself. It's a setup that could fall completely flat if it didn't cater to the strength its leads, especially McCarthy.

McCarthy carries the film, utilizing her talent for physical comedy and executing slapstick moments with impressive commitment. Bateman is ever the reliable straight man, a role we've seen him play plenty of times before. The characters are polar opposites; Diana's a compulsive liar who hides some deep-seated pain by buying rounds of drinks for strangers at bars, while Sandy is a bland family man in need of a backbone. They can both learn something from the other, but everything feels just a little too obvious.

Despite McCarthy's comedic skills, a few of the gags are overkill. In one of the broader running jokes, Diana has an unbelievable talent for surviving accidents that would kill — or at least maim — a normal person, but each time her head pops up triumphantly, it comes off as more cheesy than celebratory. There's also much ado about the fact that Sandy is a unisex name, a joke which, though uninspired to begin with, loses its vigor after the third repetition. Some of the cruder moments (like Diana's sexual tryst with a cowboy played by Eric Stonestreet) also may not be for everyone.

Identity Thief can be flat-out silly, but there's a kernel of heart in there thanks to its leading lady, who executes a number of emotional moments that allow the audience to connect with the desperately lonely Diana. Though the material isn't stellar, McCarthy still knows how to make us laugh.

Two-Time Emmy Winner Eric Stonestreet Says "It's Nice to Win but We Like to Spread It Around"

Eric Stonestreet won his second Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy for Modern Family tonight, and the actor stopped by the press room.

Eric Stonestreet won his second Emmy for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy for Modern Family tonight, and the actor stopped by the press room. Though he's the only male cast member to bring home two Emmys, the actor was humble about getting trophy No. 2. Not only did he praise his costars, he was also grateful for his success in general. Check out what he had to say below:

On winning a second time: "All of the cast of Modern Family, they are my family, we are each others' family. We do truly love each other. We know this isn't going to last forever, and we'll be the old show next year, or a couple years, who knows. We just want to enjoy it while we're here together. I was pulling for Jesse [Tyler Ferguson] or Ed [O'Neill] tonight; I know Julie [Bowen] was pulling for Sofia [Vergara]. It's nice to win, but we want to spread it around too."

On constantly trying to make Modern Family funnier: "The writers challenge themselves constantly. We take nothing for granted. We're very serious about the business of comedy and we are constantly trying to make the scene the best possible scene it can be. You don't become an actor because you like to rest on your laurels."

On what the atmosphere of the show will be like when he returns with a second Emmy: "It's gonna be pretty violent, I'm sure. I'm sure Ed's going to do his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu on me, and Jesse's going to cock his head like this. No, like I said, we love each other. Maybe that won't always be the case, but that's the case right now. We're all pulling for each other. There's no competition at all between any of us."

On his Emmy ritual: "My ritual is my family comes out and goes to parties with me and meets famous people."

On persevering in his acting career: "I'm just proof that if you stick with it, and show up and be prepared, then you can stand on a stage and win a trophy. If there's someone thinking about quitting, and if I can be a little bit of an inspiration for them, I'm happy to take that role."

Gwen Stefani and Her Boys Join Other Famous Families For a Kid-Friendly Bash

Yesterday morning, stars and their families came out to support the third annual Milk and Bookies event at the Skirball Cultural Center in LA.

Yesterday morning, stars and their families came out to support the third annual Milk and Bookies event at the Skirball Cultural Center in LA. Chris Pine, Gwen Stefani, Julie Bowen, and Eric Stonestreet were among the celebrities who lent their voices to the cause by sharing some of their favorite children's stories with the kids. The nonprofit, which focuses on promoting philanthropy at a young age through book donations, got going bright and early and offered a fun-filled day with no shortage of milk, cookies, and — of course — tons of reading.

Gwen's son Kingston walked the carpet with her, while Zuma was a little camera shy. Julie Bowen balanced her sons John and Gus while her third boy, Oliver, wasted no time heading into the action. New Girl's Max Greenfield also brought his 3-year-old daughter out and told us he'd have to hold her back from her crush Chris Pine. Stay tuned for today's PopSugar Rush to catch our interviews from the event!
