Dresses at 27 Dresses Screenings — Cute or Cheesy?

According to Hollywood Reporter, "Twentieth Century Fox is introducing what it calls the first ever 'live standees' to promote 27 Dresses — 27 models at 27 specially-selected theaters across the country, who will be wearing specially-made bridesmaid dresses adorned with the film's title and credits."

The promotion is taking place at advance screenings today which is, of course, the 27th of December! I can't tell if this is an irritatingly dumb promotional stunt, or kind of cute and innovative. What do you think?

oh well. i saw this movie 2 days ago at a sneak preview and LOVED it. anyone who loves james marsden and cutsey chick flick happy movies should go see this. maybe the 27 dresses were a bit overkill, but thats the fun of it!

It's a bit much. If they did it for just L.A. and New York, the big media venues, that would have been enough. 27 cities is like radio overkill.

Quite frankly the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Most movie promotion like this are dumb, but this is the worst.

I don't really care about the dresses or Katherine Heigl. I wish she could keep her mouth shut. I really liked her and now not so much. I will maybe still see the movie, but probably just wait until DVD. I didn't really care for Knocked Up personally, but she shouldn't criticize the movie that got her other roles. It was a very popular movie and lots of people loved it. Why criticize it? Be smart.

Cute! It may also be cheesy and dumb, but it is a new kind of promotional stunt at least. Always cool to see something different and creative. Good idea!

i think that it's a cute idea - aything to promote a movie - although with all the nonsensical talk about katherine heigel...do they really need all the extra promotion?

Cheesy but a good marketing trick. I have no urge to see this movie, Katherine Heigl is an overexposes, overrated and unappreciative actress.

I guess it's cute but the whole AND it's the 27th of Dec thing is a bit much...the dresses just look busy. bridesmaids dresses would have gotten the point across!! how many other bridesmaid/wedding movies are out now? jeeze, we are not that stupid.
