The Dracula Untold Trailer Proves Movie Vampires Can Still Be Scary

Maybe no one will soon forget the Twilight effect of the last few years, which made it seem like there was a new vampire movie or TV show at every turn, but it really seems like things have slowed down for the bloodsuckers in pop culture. That's kind of why the Dracula Untold trailer feels kind of fresh, but that may also be because the movie looks much darker and bloodier than anything Robert Pattinson ever starred in. Luke Evans is the title character, the original original vampire, who starts out as Vlad the Impaler, the real-life figure who lived and was later dubbed Dracula. Under the oppression of Mehmed (Dominic Cooper), Vlad originally decides to become a vampire to protect his family, but it's clear that he discovers how great it is to have all that power (the man can turn into a whole flock of bats!). Dracula Untold comes out Oct. 17, and you should watch if only for the very cool special effects.
