5 Reasons Lady Gaga Is Going to Rock American Horror Story: Hotel

By now, you've probably heard that Lady Gaga is starring on American Horror Story: Hotel. We have a good idea of what we might see, but we have no idea who — or what? — Gaga is playing. We do know she has a bunch of cool costars, some of whom have been on the show before. In honor of her 29th birthday on Saturday, here are the top five reasons newcomer Gaga is going to absolutely kill this acting gig. Source: Getty / Christopher Polk

She has actually acted before.

Gaga played La Camaleón in 2013's Machete Kills, and she reteamed with Robert Rodriguez last year for Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. It's at least a start!

She's definitely not afraid to get weird.

Pretty much all of Lady Gaga's videos are darkly bizarre, though "Alejandro" is the only one in which she carries a human heart on a pillow. While they're usually not as gory as American Horror Story, many of them almost have the same creepy aesthetic. Gaga takes eyebrow-raising chances that a lot of other artists would never take, and that willingness will pay off on the infamously twisted show.

She'll bring her beautiful voice with her.

Ryan Murphy loves to incorporate music into the show. Remember that bizarre Asylum episode in which Jessica Lange sings "The Name Game"? Stevie Nicks performs on Coven, and the cast of Freak Show covered a ton of songs. Who knows if Gaga will sing, but it's certainly an interesting prospect. (Just kidding, of course she's going to sing.)

She knows how to put on a good show.

She knows how to put on a good show.

Lady Gaga is one of the biggest entertainers of the past decade; if anyone has what it takes to be a leading lady, it's her. Touring is hard work, so filming a little TV show should be a piece of cake. She's going to pull this off with finesse, and can you even imagine her making the rounds to promote the show? Meat Dress Part Two might be in order.

Finally, this performance is practically an episode of American Horror Story.

Remember her 2009 performance of "Paparazzi" at the Video Music Awards? She essentially bleeds out on stage. This is like the best audition tape of all time.
