Desperate Housewives Rundown Episodes 23 & 24, "Everybody Says Don't/If It's Only In Your Head"

In some ways these final two hours of the fifth season of Desperate Housewives seem like one long way to wrap up Dave's story. Then again, as long as his story is all wrapped up, I guess I'm happy! They're a pretty decent two hours, though, and they set the stage for next season: Bree's divorce just got messier (and far more interesting!), Lynette gets some stunning news just as Tom's trying to go back to school, and there's a new girl on the block at the Solis house. Oh, and Mike does get married to . . . someone.

Did you catch the finale of DH? To talk about these last moments with the residents of Wisteria Lane, read more.

Susan — Maybe it's just me, but Mike Delfino doesn't seem like such a great catch. I can't figure out why the ladies always want to marry him! Katherine is just as desperate as ever to get hitched and they plan a quick Vegas wedding, even though both Mike and Susan clearly still have feelings for each other. It takes creepy, psycho Dave to basically kidnap Susan and MJ and then try and kill them for Susan and Mike to face the facts and start making out. Susan goes through a harrowing ordeal trying to keep Dave from killing his son, only to have Dave let MJ go at the last minute. Mike and Dave are in a car crash but both survive and now Dave is locked up in a mental institute and Mike is last seen kissing his bride — the identity of whom, though, is not revealed.

Bree — This storyline just gets stranger and stranger to me. Now that Orson knows of Bree's plans to divorce him, he's acting crazy and blackmailing her so that she can't throw him out of the house because he wants to work on the marriage and "has enough love" for the both of them. Yikes! Meanwhile, Karl is still fighting for Bree to regain the upper hand in the situation, but then he tells her he thinks she's fascinating (I knew this was coming!) and Karl and Bree (presumably) get it on in his office. I like this pair-up more than most on this show. Two of the show's most ambitious, ruthless characters? That's hot.

Gaby — Apparently Carlos's family is "trash," according to Gaby, and she likes to make them feel badly about themselves. It's funny when Gaby later talks about setting a good example for her girls when she's telling them to make other people feel badly about themselves, but anyway! Carlos volunteers to take in his teenage niece Ana despite Gaby's protests, and once the girl arrives Gaby realizes that she has a fine collection of nice clothes — all given to her by "boyfriends." Gaby sees all sorts of things wrong with this (and with using the smitten Scavo boys to do her chores) but Ana thinks Gaby's just jealous. I really like this character for some reason, and I'm glad they're bringing in some new blood, but there have been a lot of bad kids on this block and I hope Ana offers something a little bit different in the next season.

Lynette — When Lynette hears that Tom wants to go back to college to study Chinese, she decides that instead of talking to him about it, she'll just sabotage his chances by getting him extremely drunk the night before his entrance exam. That's what mature, grown women do, after all! She regrets it, though, when Tom reveals that he only wants to learn Chinese in order to add to his existing skill set and increase his chances of getting hired. All is well when Tom learns that despite being "still drunk" during the exam, he was accepted into the college — but Lynette gets some news of her own. She's pregnant. With twins. Again!
