Desperate Housewives Series Finale: What Did You Think?

After eight scandalous seasons, our time spent on Wisteria Lane with the Desperate Housewives came to a close this week with the two-hour series finale.

After eight scandalous seasons, our time spent on Wisteria Lane with the Desperate Housewives came to a close this week with the two-hour series finale. The episode tied up some recent loose ends, like the murder trial of Gaby's stepfather, and also gave us a peek into the futures of all of the housewives we've come to know and love.

The episode had some series finale staples, including a death, a birth, and a wedding, and it felt fitting to see each of the ladies move on from their lives in Fairview. Still, I was saddened to learn that they didn't ever meet up again — not even for a reunion game of poker — but I'm choosing to believe that they at least kept in touch. How'd you feel about the farewell to Desperate Housewives?

Get a Peek at the Desperate Housewives Series Finale

After eight seasons of drama, lust, betrayal, and friendship, Desperate Housewives is finally coming to its end — that is, unless the gals of Wisteria Lane opt to do a post-series movie, a la Sex and the City.

After eight seasons of drama, lust, betrayal, and friendship, Desperate Housewives is finally coming to its end — that is, unless the gals of Wisteria Lane opt to do a post-series movie, a la Sex and the City. Of course it would be hard to do a movie if Bree is in prison for life. A possibility, which, by the looks of these finale photos, might be a reality for the redhead. As we know, she's vowed to take the heat for the murder earlier this season, relieving her friends of guilt, but probably landing herself in a maximum-security area with no baking tools for a very, very long time. At least the ladies get to play one last round of poker!

5 Funniest Quotes From the Desperate Housewives Cast About Their Final Season

ABC introduced several new shows at the Winter TCA, but the network closed out the day with a hit that's wrapping up its final run: Desperate Housewives.

ABC introduced several new shows at the Winter TCA, but the network closed out the day with a hit that's wrapping up its final run: Desperate Housewives. The soap is on its last season, so creator Marc Cherry joined the cast, including Eva Longoria, Teri Hatcher, and Felicity Huffman, to talk about the rest of the last season. The cast and crew had a lot of funny things to say about the matter, so I've highlighted the best quotes from the panel below.

  • "The hair and makeup people will go through more hell than they've ever gone through." — Cherry, confirming that he was going to "do a Hitchcock" and cameo in the very last episode
  • "It might have been my garbage men." — Longoria, on having once said she needed to buy a house with a garage because people were standing in her driveway when the show started getting popular
  • "This is like having the funeral before you die." — Huffman, commenting on everyone talking about the final season before it aired
  • "I'm never sending these girls to Dubai." — Cherry, on there being no plans for a Desperate Housewives movie, and simultaneously making a Sex and the City 2 joke
  • "It gets higher?!" — Longoria's reaction to Huffman's reciting the fact that 60% of first marriages end in divorce and 80% of second marriages end in divorce

First Look: Secret Burial on Desperate Housewives Season Eight Premiere

Some crazy things have gone down on Wisteria Lane over the years — plane crashes, fake pregnancies, neighbors trying to poison one another — but the primetime soap upped the ante in the season seven finale, which saw the ladies of the lane helping Carlos (Ricardo Chavira) cover up his murder of Gabby's (Eva Longoria) abusive stepfather.

In these first pictures from the eighth season, it looks like things will pick up right where they left off. There are lots of tears, as the guilty-looking gals and Carlos meet up under the cover of darkness for what looks like a secretive burial of the body. Check 'em out as we all wait for the show to return on Sept. 25.

Desperate Housewives to End After One More Season — Are You Sad?

Our time on Wisteria Lane is about to come to a close.

Our time on Wisteria Lane is about to come to a close. Desperate Housewives will end next May, making the upcoming eighth season its last. Creator Marc Cherry has always continued pushing the show forward, so it's a bit of a surprise — there was a time when it truly seemed like the Housewives were destined to go on forever.

I've been impressed with how well the show has held up over the years (the most recent season finale still managed to shock me), but Desperate Housewives has had a great run and I'm ready to say goodbye. Plus, it's always a bonus when a show knows that it's on the way out, leaving plenty of room for a perfect finale. How do you feel about the news — are you sad to see the show go?
