The new trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has been released, and it's going to make you want to run for the hills. A sequel to 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes, it features a relatively simple premise: humans and genetically evolved apes are fighting for dominance over the planet. It's been nearly a decade since a powerful virus wiped out much of the population, and the human race is significantly weakened. Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty), Keri Russell, and Gary Oldman all star as humans while Judy Greer and Andy Serkis play the apes Cornelia and Caesar.
The simplicity and effectiveness of this trailer sends chills up my spine. Caesar is not to be trifled with nor is his army of apes. I've always thought of the Planet of the Apes films as more sci-fi action flicks, but this definitely feels more like a horror movie. I have no doubt I'll be squirming in my seat at those incredibly real-looking ape faces. The movie opens on July 11, and you can watch the trailer below.
