Things are going to be looking a little different around Tree Hill come season seven. The show's cast is getting a pretty substantial makeover — and it may mean even more dramatic changes for the show than the flash forward OTH put in place a couple of years back. The news may be spoilery, so I've left it behind the jump, but if you're ready to talk about it, just read more.
So: Chad Michael Murray and Hilarie Burton are leaving One Tree Hill at the end of this season. The two had been in contract negotiations for a while, but ultimately, it appears they couldn't work out a deal. So newlyweds Peyton and Lucas will be leaving Tree Hill one way or another — and I guess we'll find out how in next week's season finale.
The show's planning to reload the cast, promoting Austin Nichols (who plays Julian) to a regular character and adding some new blood. The roles are:
- Quinn, an older sister of Haley's and a free spirit who comes to town hoping to heal a broken heart.
- Alexis, the new face of Brooke's clothing line who's "an adrenaline junkie and a bit of a diva" and has "never met a party she didn’t like."
- Clayton, a rising star at a sports agency who crosses paths with Nathan. He's "a bit of a lothario" and "unapologetically enjoys the spoils that are available to a young, wealthy, handsome single guy."
Still, can those characters compensate for the loss of two of the show's leads? Will you keep watching One Tree Hill without Lucas and Peyton?

1well - i've come in and out of the show for a while now - so i can't say that it would make me watch or not watch with the change in cast. i just hope that the plot lines are more realistic than they have been and then maybe i'll tune in more.
2Well I really dislike Hilarie Burton's character, Peyton so I guess I am sort of happy. I will give the show a chance and I will tune in the first few episodes, but lately OTH has been so boring. I feel like they should end the series, only because they are dragging it on and on and on.
3This is one show that I feel I can stop and start watching whenever I please, so I don't think I'll miss them much. I feel like it's prolly time they wrap it all up. I am glad Julian will be back I'd like to see Brooke let herself fall in love.
4wow, I'm shocked. Buzz has never talked about OTH before. Although there's nothing really to talk about these past few rubbish seasons.

Anyway, for one I do not believe that Hilarie couldn't agree on a contract. She said herself she would stay. They're making her die. Two, Julian? Really? No no no no no. Hate him. Three, like the idea of Quinn, Haley's sister, and definitely noticed Haley mention her again this week. WIsh they would have brought Taylor back, but I'll have to see her before I make real judgments. Four, I am so sick of these guys Nathan plays with! Can't take it! Five, new work girl for Brooke? What about Millie?
This all makes me upset. I probably shouldn't have read it. They don't give enough attention on to the main characters they do have, and now we get all new?

7Yv — It's true! I talked about it a bit when the flash-forward happened, but I admit I'm not a regular viewer.
8I took OTH off my DVR the second the dog ate the heart. The show has gotten phenomenally horrific.
9These past couple of months, the scenes with CMM & HB have been the worst, so I can't say that I'm not happy about it. You know it's bad when you DVR everything and want to fast forward through them.
10It wont be the same without them. I wonder if they are both going to die or what they will do on the finhale.

13Always preferred Brooke to Peyton, and I totally agree with the above posters as to how ridiculous the plot line has become. I only follow now as I've been a fan too long not to. I hope Season 7 is a bit more realistic with more Brooke!
14i think the lucas & peyton story has had it run, their storyline was getting sucky.
15SO happy that Julian is back, not too sure about the new blood yet, i'll leave it for judgement when after a few episodes, like illusyve i've been an OTH fan too long not to give it a shot...
I'll still watch, Nathan & Haley are my favorite characters anyway and they don't get enough screentime as it is. I think the addition of Haley's sister, Quinn, will be interesting.
Hopefully, if Lucas and Peyton live in the finale, CMM and HB can come back and make occasional appearances. They would be probably be more tolerable if they are recurring.

19This show has really been on its last legs for a while. I like Hilarie Burton (well, I really like her hair anyway), but I liked her character more at the beginning of the series. I don't really go out of my way to watch this show anymore.
20blah..this show annoys me. i am the same age as these characters and the story lines are BS. no 22-23 yrs olds are that successful, esp in small town NC or SC..whereever Tree Hill is.
21I agree with whoever made the dog-eating-the-heart comment. I switched it off the second that I saw that and haven't watched it since. Ridiculous.
22I haven't watched One Tree Hill regularly since Season 1 when Burton was still a MTV vj, but I have tuned into a few episodes since then. I like CMM because I'm a Gilmore Girls fan, so I think it's sad that he's leaving the show. I'm surprised OTH has lasted this long though. I'm curious to see the a dog eating a heart episode that sound's so ridiculousness, I don't even know how they could incorporate something like that into a show...and I used to be a Passions fan, so I know ridiculous story lines.
23I can live without Peyton, I figured they'd kill her off anyway due to her complicated pregnancy. But IDK if I'll still watch if there is no Lucas. I love to look at him and I wanted to see him play the single dad role.
24Watch an episode in season 2 or 3 and it's obvious that everything about this season, and kind of the last one too, is totally watered- down. The writing is really really slow and saccharine, they cram a lot of time into the contrived "aren't I clever" punch lines from a five year old, and the plots focus around people that aren't dynamic or changing, ever. It makes me sad. I watch it because it's girly but it's functioning at a much less inteligent level than it used to.
25I'm going to still watch, I have faith in one tree hill and it's my favorite show. I wish they'd bring Rachel back though, I miss her a lot she was great on the show. I'm also just really happy Nathan and Haley aren't leaving because they are my favorite characters. I'm fine with Hillarie and Chad leaving, I'm more upset for Hillarie's departure then I am of Chad's, I feel he has lost his "spark" in the show but I thought Hillarie was great to watch. They should make Chase a regular and I really liked him with Brooke. Julian's good but I still liked Brooke more with Chase, it felt more real for me. Haley's sister Quinn sounds pretty cool and the Clayton guy is ok, hopefully he becomes Nathan's new best friend and I hope he is as good looking as James
And for Brooke I feel Rachel should come back because I feel they had really
good chemistry and potential for being best friends now that Peyton is leaving Brooke. I know there is Haley but Haley I never thought of as Brooke's best friend, I just want Rachel back.
26they should have ended the show at season 4.
27On the season finale, they showed Peyton and Lucas driving off, but did not indicate they were gone for good whatsoever.
28i dont think it matters which side your on, (brooke or peyton)the show whould suck if any of the main charters left. . .just like the OC when the killed off marissa n tried to bring in new characters. it just wouldn't be the same. even tho i don't like CMM i would hate for him to leave the show cuz i think it gunna ruin it. it should end with everyone. .so im not gunna watch next season
