Those funny ladies of GoFugYourself recently used a phrase that cracked me up. In describing From Justin to Kelly, the amazingly bad movie starring the first American Idol winner and her trusty runner-up, they said it was one of the "best terrible movies ever made."
Of course this got me thinking about all the terrible movies out there and my mind zoomed straight to the cinematic train wreck that is Mariah Carey's Glitter. Have you seen this? Well, I have (twice) and it is fabulously terrible.
There are a depressing number of movies that are really bad, sometimes even painful, and that don't warrant our money or attention. But every once in a while the movie gods give us something that is so terrible, it's the best ever! What, in your opinion, is the best terrible movie?
Oh, and to enjoy the "awesome" trailer for Glitter, just read more.

DSquared
Okay, first of all, I can't believe that trailer actually started with the words "IN A WORLD..."
Secondly: Showgirls. Awesomely terrible.
1I'm not going to lie, I love the second Anacondas movie. I was subjected to it during a car ride for work (the driver had a dvd player and insisted on playing it). It turned out to be fantastically bad. I own a cheap copy from Amazon and I watch it from time to time because it is so bad its good. Plus it has Charlotte from Private Practice in it!
2Material girls is awful!
3Drives Me Crazy haha not sure why but we watched it all the time in college so its a guilty pleasure now whenever its on tv. o and Center Stage. 1 AND 2 haha. the acting is horrible but i watch it for the dancing!
4oh also Stuart Little 2 and the second Peter Pan movie both suck!
5Yeah showgirls sucked pretty bad. I think that Soul Plane was one of the most awful movies ever filmed.
6Josie and the Pussy Cats movie
7Aw I loved Josie and the Pussycats! Hated, however, the Love Guru. Seriously.
8Snakes on a Plane anyone?
9OMG, Bring It On is my favorite terrible movie. I always get sucked into it.
10I LOVE the fug girls and I'm so happy you do too buzz!
11You Got Served. possibly the best and worst dance movie ever.
12Josie & the Pussycats and Snakes on a Plane are also awesomely awful.
This is kinda embarrassing, but i cried when that guy died in Glitter. I'm the awful in the equation, i'm ridiculous i know hahaha
13I recently rediscovered "My Demon Lover." It's a 1987 movie staring the guy from Family Ties, and it's so amazingly bad.
14"I have had it with these mother [bleeping] snakes on this mother [bleeping] plane!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
15That movie was so terrible, it was awesome. Kinda like William Shatner.
I'm a sucker for anything with a "nerdy girl turns hot" plotline!
16All of the bring it on series,
Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie (Not the TV show, it was just awesome AWESOME LOL)
Napoleon Dynamite
I could go on. I LOVE the cheese! LOL
17She Devil. It's the worst movie, but it's so friggin ridiculous and totally campy that I can't help but watch it any time it's on. And Meryl Streep is in it!
I'd also say Joe Vs. the Volcano, but that is the most unappreciated, greatest movie ever. Try it with an open mind and you'll love the crap out of it.
18Crank!
19Spice World! I loved that when I was 11. I'd still watch it, it's so nostalgic for me.
20Showgirls, Bring it On, and Center Stage are my picks for best terrible movies.
21House Bunny...ugh.
22There are so many! Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead is the only one I really have to add, but I agree with some other picks, too. Showgirls and Center Stage automatically popped into my mind.
23Spice World is amazing. Def one of the best terrible movies ever. And I can't get enough of Mary Kate and Ashley's tween movies, Holiday in the Sun, Our Lips are Sealed, Passport to Paris...
24Spice World was great! And I'd forgotten about the Mary Kate and Ashley movies! I can't decide which one was the best.
There are also some terribly awesome Lohan movies from back in the day. Life Size with LL and Tyra Banks is great. So is Get a Clue! Ah, the Disney Channel.
25"Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead"
O.M.G. I watched this movie a million times when I was growing up. It was one of my favorites. My mom remembers when I'd watch it and still says "TV rots your brain!"
26Here's some more to add to the list:
Girls Just Want to Have Fun
The Wizard
Troop Beverly Hills
They are so cheesy that I love.
I have to agree with Material Girls. It was on tv one day and I go sucked in.
27Troop Beverly Hills!
Also:
The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking
28Blue Lagoon
Clarabelle said it best: Buffy the Vampire Slayer the movie from the 80s. I am at a loss for words for how amazing and stupid this movie is. it actually is quite funny. Scary, not so much.
29Maninquen and Grease II are pretty bad but cute and fun.
30CENTER STAGE - it's SO good!! and so bad lol
31OH OH OH! I can't believe I didn't think of this one! I LOVE this movie, and watch it every chance I get. But if someone walks in the room I quickly flip the channel. LMAO
"Best little wh*rehouse in Texas" I LOVE that freakin' stupid movie!
32Indielove, me too--my younger sister and I went through a phase where we watched it almost everyday. LOL. I love that movie!
As for bad ones, I've seen a lot...couldn't even begin to narrow it down! Some of the ones that are mentioned here, like Showgirls and Glitter, definitely deserve to be among the worst.
33rob schneider's the hot chick is probably my favorite awesomely bad movie! haha i have seen that one soo many times and it still cracks me up.
34omg i'm so excited someone mentioned the new adventures of pippi longstocking! me and my sister used to watch that over and over again!
My fav. awesomely bad movie has to go to the popular, Center Stage...
"I am the best goddamn dancer in the American Ballet Academy. Who the hell are you? Nobody."
35So happy to see that Center Stage made a couple of other people's lsts. LOVE that movie -- amazing dancing, hideous acting. And I have to heart Peter Gallagher for agreeing to be in my favorite terrible movie of all time.
36Cruel Intentions. Love it but it's so cheesy.
37Phantom of the Opera. I adore the musical on stage, but the movie... it sucks you in, but it is soooo bad!
Black Snake Moan. Horrible. But I had to watch.
Cool As Ice, yep yep.
38Totally agree w/ Center Stage. The acting really is terrible, but the dancing is amazing!
39jessr1214, i love the hot chick too!! my friends and i nerdily quote "emotional scarro! deesgusteeng!" (because of the dad's pornstar trim! lol!)
also, i recently watched save the last dance (after watching it multiple times as a teenager) and i thought it was pretty bad... but i couldn't stop watching, of course
40buffy the vampire slayer movie and 10,000 BC
41Showgirls!!!
42agreed with showgirls, bring it on & josie... and most importantly, you got served was the most horrible, yet most awesome dance movie EVER.
43I haven't seen it in ages, but there was a movie in the 80s called Poison Ivy with Michael J. Fox and one of the girls from the Facts of Life about some kids camp. It was both horrible and awesome. My siblings and I had taped it from tv and watched it all the time.
44Bad Girls. Mannequin. Money Pit. Joe versus the volcano. Soap Dish. Grease 2. Heathers. Forces of Nature.
45I LOVE Drive Me Crazy and not in a "it's so bad it's good" way. I genuinely love that movie. I'll go hide in a dark corner now...
46But I do agree, Snakes on a Plane was just awful. The different ways people were bitten and where was just hurendous.
Adventures in Babysitting! The older kid gets stabbed in the foot but his parents will never find out? Love. It.
47geez...I can't believe multiple people said "Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead"...that was embarrassingly one of my favorite movies growing up...no idea why...AND I actually bought the DVD a few months ago when I saw it on amazon cheap...also, any cheesy teen movie is usually terribly good, generally featuring Jennifer Love Hewitt, Melissa Joan Hart, Mandy Moore...
48Motel Hell
Look Who's Talking
Teen Witch
Glitter
Snow Day
Troop Beverly Hills
Eight Legged Freaks
Win A Date With Tad Hamilton
49She's Out of Control and Teen Witch! They are my absolute favorite "geek to chic" movies ever, and I can watch them over and over again without fail. American Anthem (old gymnastics movie - Mitch Gaylord was in it before he ventured into soft core pr0n), Howard the Duck, She's All That, and pretty much any teen movie from the 80's to the early 2000's, like Bring it On and Center Stage, as everyone else has mentioned.
