Earlier this week, I mentioned Alexandra Patsavas. (She's the music supervisor from Grey's Anatomy, Gossip Girl, and The O.C., and she also worked on the New Moon soundtrack.) She's one of the best in the biz at picking out the perfect song — thanks to her, I still think of that scene on The O.C. when Marissa shoots Trey whenever I hear Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek."
Bringing up Patsavas got me thinking about all the great music on TV. I admittedly own a Grey's soundtrack — OK, or two — and I'm always jotting down the names of the artists at the bottom ticker when I'm watching The Hills or The City. It's a great way to find little gems to download that might not pass my radar otherwise. So, I'd like to the pose this question to you: What TV show do you think has the best tunes?

Grey's, I barely notice the music on GG, though I did notice the Leighton Meester plug last week.
hey im so awesome
What I love about Gossip Girl is that they use a lot of indie alternative which is awesome. The OC did the same thing...hence the Imogen Heap. But there are a lot of other shows that use music well. The Fray and Snow Patrol have a lot to thank Grey's for. And how amazing was the use of "No Surprises" by Radiohead in House this week?
I love the music in Chuck (and not just because they played Flight of the Conchords
).
Gossip Girl has alright music, although not nearly as awesome as the OC's. It was one of the main reasons why I watched it!
I think FNL has a great soundtrack as well, because it uses Explosions In The Sky songs perfectly. Not only they're beautiful songs, but they fit the show really well.
I love the music in GA and GG. Alex Patsavas is the responsible for me liking Indie and I'm thankful. I also get stuck the music with the scenes. Chasing Cars playing while Meredith looks at Derek and Finn, Hallelujah on two OC season finales, and much more. Although for now, GA gets my vote.
toss up between grey's, GG, and scrubs for me
FNL has the best by far.
I love the band Paramore and I caught them on the Hills years ago.... before we all found out the Hills was fake and staged.
I think the music from the CW shows like GG and One Tree Hill are good.
Grey's. But The O.C. had really good music when it was on too.
What is with Jenny in that picture??
I always love the music from the OC and sometimes Gossip Girl but GG can become a little too club-ish and techno-y for me. I love Nada Surf's cover of "If You Leave" from the OC when Anna leaves. Awesome. And when Rooney played.
Although, it makes me a little sad when I find music I like from TV shows because I got it fed to me instead of finding it myself.
I dig GG and Grey's, and sometime FNL has some good stuff too.
love the music on the hills and greys is great too
I used to find a lot of new music on One Tree Hill and OC. I believe it was One Tree Hill where I first heard Alexi Murdoch who I looooove. Grey's Anatomy always picks great songs as well, that really fit with the story lines.
One Tree Hill has the best music. I love the songs they play, and I always discover new artists/cds that I love.
what in the hell is going on with Jenny in that picture?!?!?!
I like the music on Grey's and i hate to admit the Hills at least a few years ago haven't watched it for a long time. The GG music fits the show really well but I don't really listen to it outside of the show minus the last eps. and the repeatedly playing cobra starship
hellooo what about HOUSE??? the best music ever. just on the premier there was iron & wine, the frames, and radiohead. so dope, he doesn't even NEED the drugs
One Tree Hill is a horrible show--with great music.
Almost every episode of Private Practice gives me a new song to download, some of which isn't on iTunes for awhile, but they show up after people request. Fantastic!
The OC and Gossip Girl definitely tops my list, but Grey's Anatomy has amazing music as well.
Grey's anatomy!
The OC for sure! the music is great with the scenes. i agree with penguins268, Nada Surf's cover of "If You Leave" was awesome. So was Finley Quaye & William Orbit's "Dice" during the new year's countdown
Rescue Me has the best music. oh wait thats a grown up show, so nobody on this site would know what that is.
Supernatural! I love classic rock.
oh man..i remember when GA was just starting out and How To Save A Life was on the show....holy crap, i think my entire sorority was obsessed w/ the Fray!
Grey's tops my list.
I was just saying last night actually, The Hills has a great soundtrack. Very 'in the moment'.
^ The Fray is awesome!
The OC, definitely! I found so many new bands from that show. I also really have enjoyed the music on One Tree Hill.
One Tree Hill and The City have the best music. If it weren't for the music on these shows I probably wouldn't watch them.
gotta second vampyre. supernatural has great music.
I love the music on gossip girl, entourage, and I love the house theme song.
Loved the music on the OC. It really introduced some new and indie bands to the pop world
I didn't expect it, but I found out about some very good songs/bands thanks to GG.
Looove GA, The OC and Scrubs
I love the music on Grey's Anatomy! They've played Tegan and Sara a bunch of times, and I love them, and I also discovered two new artists from the show.
Grey's Anatomy, hands down!!
I have to go with One Tree Hill and Supernatural. I have consistently purchased OTH's tie in soundtracks from almost every season, and have discovered quite a few artists that I very much enjoy.
The OC, hands down! Imogen Heap, Youth Group, Sufjan Stevens, Joseph Arthur, Nada Surf, Mazzy Star, Bloc Party, The Shins, Mates of State, Damien Jurado, Syd Matters, Elliott Smith... so much good stuff in there.
